Vadania answers Aelos, "Yes, we need to head outside and soon, but it would help with these things were not right behind us! The ones coming up the other staircase aren't making such good progress."
Meanwhile Vadania does her best to block the staircase with their bodies.

Ylva: Attack: [dice=20]+6+2=24 Damage: [dice=6]+3=4 Trip: [dice=20]+2=20
Hopefully these good rolls slow them down until we can get that pillar over hereā¦ [rand=668091243132948969291440024971961962539837695658225544594577513635]

As Ka'lion turns the imp rushes forwards, leaping from the ruins and shifting form into that of an evil looking tusked boar slamming into Ka'lions legs. Despite the imps efforts the extra weight on the pillar as Ka'lion falls into it is enough to start a collapse. Vadania has and Ylva have to jump quickly back to avoid the falling stone.
Ka'lion hit for 6 damage - he can choose to use his next action to either help Aelos guide the falling pillar into place, or he can turn and defend himself from the boar.
Should he choose to fight Vadania and Ylva will be at risk from the falling rocks - they can take a full defence action to reduce the risks though.

Vadania and Ylva will dodge away from the staircase as the rocks come tumbling down.

Ka'lion has 10 hit points left. Ka'lion guides the pillar to destroy the undead. Pushing it to take out everything on the stairs. [dice=20]+1STR=[rand=722205499419942566801797924563291027129881549626637752123223617673]

Ka'lions efforts are enough to help guide the falling pillar onto the stairwell as the first of the creatures tries to crawl out, the pillar shattering and rolling into the stairwell on impact.
Seeing its efforts to delay the group thwarted the imp behind him reverts to its winged form and flies out in a wide arc away from the group towards the second band of creatures to the north.
The group have a few brief moments to consider their next action - leave the building via the cracked walls or drop into the large room below and seek an alternate exit, perhaps even rushing back behind the creatures to the Clearwater temple.[rand=22218971725505386384849179209194444807953803665665153555890032]

"Captain, where are we going next? I'd say push another piller down the other stairway. That way the only things getting up here are flyers." said Ka'lion.4.1

Aelos peers in the direction of the second staircase but, like Ka'lion, cannot make it out in the darkness. "They'll clear this one soon enough, though they don't seem too bright. I'd think we could pick them off as they come up if we had more silver." There was enough loose rubble to the south to further fill in the stairwell.
Vadania is less confidant, what she can see to the north is not a narrow stairwell but a wide, full sized staircase. Only it's severely damaged condition is slowing the creatures down as they are forced to crawl across one another and claw at the crumbling stone.[rand=9036140522852711848675729896610309318348875893678908948716130566]

Ka'lion can use some healing. He assumes wolf form to see better and if healed he can scout the other side quickly.4.1

Aelos does what he can for Ka'lion (7 pts), and then casts a light spell - though much of the large room is still in shadows all of the group can now make out the distant figures.
Based on their progress it would seem that the group have seconds, not minutes to decide upon a course of action.
Aelos speaks up, "I have little magic left, we cannot continue to battle these things face to face"[rand=83500057593417689161870494346583204956578786281824972738156020048]

"We can out run them I think but the imps the problem. Make a dash for the main temple? Or enter the city and find the water source or find a room we can block off securely and get some rest. We also need water and food." said Ka'lion. "Captain you make the decision."4.1

Flee into the city, followed by the seemingly endless hoard of these things, or make a run for where they came in and hope that they can all make it up the rope before they were overpowered. Ka'lion could make it, but the rest of them?
Vadania took a quick glance below to see how many were still milling around on the ballroom floor.

The room looked relatively clear, and the creatures were not fast or agile - a retreat to the surface would be possible provided the room of statues they had passed through was not crowded ... if the imp had split its forces evenly it seemed likely that the group would have a chance.
Of the city beyond Vadania knew little enough to make a good judgement, who knew what might lurk there for gain or for ill.
The group still carried the items it had found in its earlier journeys - three vials of orange liquid, a bottle of something purple, a wand, a red crystal, a blue glass chain with lens, and a rather battered looking mask.[rand=860430652464186597765223869469029354327202102088018693233585776015]

"It may be time to drink the potions and take our chances." suggested Ka'lion not trying to be helpful so much as realizing the three Orange potions most likely where cure light wounds or neutralize poisons. All useful if the imp returned but that they should all grab the imp until it was dead if it did. Bad luck was Ka'lion current state at this time and he was a bit superstitious about fighting when he would of missed the barn when lives where on the line.4.1

Coming to a decision, Vadania calls out, "Now's not the time to try unknown potions. We're going to make a run for the exit. Everyone hang down from the balcony and then drop to shorten your fall. Ylva will just have to take her chances with a jump. Ka'lion, don't wait for the rest of us, get to the rope and start climbing. When the rest of us get there I'll tie Ylva to the rope and you can pull her up. Then drop the rope and I'll tie Aelos to it while I climb up. Then the three of us can pull up Aelos armor and all. Now go!"

Kalion pulls a rope out of his bag wraps it quickly around the fence on the balconies jumps over the balconies edge. The rope should slow his fall and show the others a safer way down. The crumbling fence gives way as Ka'lion climbs over and the others jump down into the rubble around him, battered but still able to run. The light and noise will have certainly alerted the creatures to their actions but the party has a good headstart.
Ka'lion reaches the door to the statue room first but without light can see nothing within, though he can hear movement somewhere beyond. Reverting to human form the light from the book shows him that the creatures are packed into the corridor leading to the staircase, but they are already turning and seeking to re-enter the room.
Ka'lion could try to hold them here before any of them can squeeze back into the room, or he can flee to the surface and hope that Vadania and Aelos are not too far behind.[rand=67726924539667526756868322558636382348987339522948639210617738642]

Ka'lion returns to wolf form and continues to double move providing the others a light of hope ahead of them. (as with his other equipment the book and pack merges into his wolf form - unless he drops his pack the light vanishes as soon as he changes form, and ka'lion will once again be running blind)[rand=520163550347706705499843167035212932338669159854511364594621787216]

Ka'lion will stay in human form and double move then. He's moving 80 inches. I wish he had a minor left. I could of cast light on something and then turned into a wolf and then carry it.4.1

Ka'lion soon reaches the entrance to the pit, several more burning torches have been thrown down and the two ropes remain, a voice shouts down from above "friend or foe?"
Some distance behind him in the statue room Vadania and Aelos find that three of the creatures have emerged from the collapsed corridor, one already blocking their escape to the pit as it seeks to follow Ka'lion.
The path to the shrine room remains clear but any other leads to danger - if the group cannot quickly dispatch the creature blocking their escape they risk being swamped.[rand=1868532539737131006424149610482988564004445849125703089751864471324]
