This seems like a good time to use an entangle spell to hold the rats long enough for us to get away unbitten. Does the position of the rats and terrain make that a viable option? The rats swarm forwards, some the size of small dogs, though Ka'lion - ever paranoid - is waiting for them.

Ka'lion is not paranoid he's just to smart to be always taken by surprise.

Ka'lion lunges for the first rat but then pulls away, concerned perhaps for the risk of disease from such a bite or just overcautious but either way his hesitation is all the time the rat needs to duck away from the barbarians jaws (miss)

Ylva is bolder than Ka'lion. Waiting till a rat emerges, Ylva tries to chomp and throw it to the ground.

Ylva easily dispatches the first of the rats, and Rake splatters another across the muddy ground with his oversized crossbow - though reloading it from his perch will not be easy.

Rakes companion backs quickly away from the rats, his own shot going wide as the swarm and bite at all within reach nipping both Ylva(2) and Ka'lion but unable to catch the latter cleanly or penetrate the heavier boots and leggings of the others.

Vadania stayed behind the wolves, using her bow to pick off rats that were still approaching.

For such large rats they are surprisingly hard to hit with a bow as they duck and weave around the groups legs, though Aelos manages to crush the skull of one with his mace.

The four remaining rats continue to bite and scratch madly, unconcerned as to the fate of the others.

Ka'lions blow is enough to stop the rat dead. The others swirl around the groups feet managing to bite Jeroen before they are dispatched, though the wound doesn't look bad.

Rake shouts down from atop the rubble, "Jeroen can you run on your leg?", the man nods and Rake continues, "we have a clear path to the gate if we move now and move quick, the goblin patrols are staying back out of the reach of bows and I don't think they heard us"[rand=17230169183516786881023419943119167201656759095099837138503395944]

"They will hear us if you keep shouting." said Ka'lion picking up a few rats to hide out of sight from patrols.

Vadania simple said, "Let's go while the going is good." Then as the slowest, she led the way with Ylva by her side. She was expecting the others to pass her.

Ka'lion turn's into a wolf and takes the lead next to whoever else is scouting ahead of the group.
