Then he tries out his trustish mace. Too far away - but i'll apply the roll to this next round:Madaline moves out to the left with Ylva, surprisingly stealthy for a woman of her size. The lizardfolk see her move and throw javelins in her direction, though ineffectually as one only grazes her as she runs, and Aelos immediately bursts out of cover and charges towards them. Caught across the knee by Madalines club the foremost lizard stumbles into the arc of Aelos' blow and collapses as Ylva leaps past him to attack. 1 lizardman down Target and attack roll for Ylva Ka'lion ~100 feet away, Vadania ~90 feet away, Darrian ~70 feet

Ka'lions rock hits true, but has little effect on the resiliant and well protected warrior.

Darrian reloads his crossbow and lets another bolt fly as he calls to Vadania, "I am sorry, but I couldn't make out what they were saying..."
[dice=20] + 1 = 18 to hit
[dice=8] = 3 damage
If he can, he will also attempt to listen closely to their conversation, if any. I don't know if that will distract Darrian too much though or require a standard action.
[dice=20] + 0 = 18 listen[rand=8291851715184748180545677430927750203576914500445139558139317668974]

The second lizardman falls under the weight of Ylva and relentless ranged blows, his companion still some distance away. Seeing that he is outnumbered the final lizardfolk retreats to the south towards the distant horns responding to his earlier call.
Lizardfolk patrols would be closing from the north and south, and with the valley blocking escape to the east the only clear route out would lead the group deeper into the fell - unless they could fight through or evade whatever lay to the north of them.
The lizardfolk with the horn that had stayed with the mule runs south, and is now some 140 feet from Aelos, Ylva, and Madaline, nearly 200 feet from Vadania, and even further from Ka'lion. Ylva is fast enough to chase it down but may not be a match for it alone in combat.

Ka'lion double runs to his mule leads her to his gear and puts it on her back and then he give the dwarf and cleric a lift up so the party can move quickly. "Chief which way?"

Um, they aren't any slower than Vadania.
Vadania leads the group out into the fell itself. They desperately need to find a place to rest, but it has to be far enough away that the lizard men don't find them while they're sleeping.
For now she keeps an eye out for any of the many dangers she knows of in the fell.

Opting not to pursue the fleeing lizardman the group breaks away towards the deeper swamps and forests of the fell. On the horizon, for the first time in many long days, the sun can be seen to shine through a break in the clouds.
There is no time to rest however as the group soon hear the sounds of pursuit, they were easy to track and the lizardfolk were closing. The group presses on due West at the best speed they can manage until suddenly the sound of pursuit tails off ... surely the lizardmen had not given up the chase so easily?

Did the divine castors get their spells back at dawn? Or were we too busy running to pray?

Did the divine castors get their spells back at dawn? Or were we too busy running to pray? Divine spellcasters are permitted to put off praying for spells if something prevents them (like running for their lives) provided they do so at the first opportunity, and it's been less than an hour since sunrise.Vadania feels a strange power in the air, static as if the group were beneath a powerful thunderstorm. Darrain can also feel the strong magic in the air, something is nearby - something that the lizardfolk knew of and are seeming scared of.

The sound of the distant lizardfold is now masked by another, quiet but persistent disturbance in the air, further east. Ka'lion finds some sign of wildlife but does not stray far from the group to search - the fell has a reputation for creatures of unnatural form and capability.

"I do not think we are safer here than in the presence of those lizardmen. There is a magic on the air that does not sit well with me, as if something foul lurks nearby," Darrian says in a calm tone.
He aims to determine where the source of magic is and point the party away, if possible, but he thinks in a place as this no location will be safe enough for them...
[dice=20] + 11 = 25 spellcraft to detect the source of the magic (I thought this was an acceptable means of doing so)[rand=665549027500674102356114028953015885313382674939934375784595031291]

FYI, I am out of town Jan. 19th - 28th and will most likely not be checking on the game, so please play Darrian for me during that time. Thanks!

The magic radiates from the East, it's presence is apparent but it's nature would require a detect magic spell or similar to begin to comprehend.

If we've got our spells back, I can cast Detect Magic. If not, then I'll just try to keep an eye out for whatever it may be.

If we've got our spells back, I can cast Detect Magic. The group can choose to rest here for an hour allowing the divine casters to regain spells, though perhaps at risk, or you can break north immediately and try to outrun the lizardmen before they gather the numbers to encircle the area - your choice.

Vadania feels they should continue running for their lives. Waiting could easily end with them being stuck between two bad choices.

Have you ever had a group work so hard at avoiding encounters?
