OK, so it's time to check out what (if anything) is currently in the inn.

Ka'lions keeping the ax. It's his favorite weapon and he knows that it has powers related to nature. It's also an artifact but it needed a new handle. It just didn't do as much damage as the hammer. It also creates a good reason for Vandania to need his help in the future. Otherwise she'd just replace him. He also intends to go after the demons but not on their terms. For the hammer Ka'lion wants the wood sword. Vadania has not needed it much as she's been using the fire ward to fight with. Vadania's armor wont fit George.Ka'lion is irreplaceable, I don't think Vadania will ever find an NPC quite like him. So Ka'lion wants Vadania to give up 3 magic items she might be able to use to get one she can't? And trade her primary melee weapon for one she can't use? These do not look like good deals. She's fine with Ka'lion keeping the axe head. She counter offers the wand, the crystals, the two potions, the dust, and her old armor (sellable) for the holy symbol and armor. That's trading 6 magic objects and 1 mundane for 2 magic objects.

We would of been in the inn. Ka'lion would not of split the coins outside. They would of got lost in the rain. But Ka'lion thinks he knows who stole the scarab. It was the newest party member. She already admitted to stealing her brother cape. Vadania has a party theif on her hands. Before he leaves in the morning he'll ask Gerrot to steal his scarab back for him when they are alone so he wont be over heard. It's possible that Xana stole it but Ka'lion doesn't think so. If Garrot stole it - this is his chance to return it and place the blame on someone else. This still does not address the resent magic treasures found. Ka'lion was wearing this in burr town, a town described as being full of thieves in the description. Why is he suspecting party members? And asking one member of the my party to steal from another is very bad form. Lynette probably doesn't have it, which means Garrot would have to search for it. And it would be hard to hide that someone had been pawing though all her stuff even if isn't noticed while doing it.

Ka'lions still going to ask and he has not told Vadania anything about it. If Garrot does find's scarab he can return it to Ka'lion and informed Vadania of the theft and he should want to be sure of her activities himself or she will steal from him. Bad form is better then a knife in the back. And Ka'lion is correct - she steals from her own family and seamed proud of it. She may not be trustworthy.

The group finds the inn empty, but it appears that someone had been here within the last day or two - travellers on the road perhaps, but they had not seen fresh tracks on their journey from Burr Town.
No food or valuables remain save for large kegs of ale too large to move, but the furniture is intact and there are still hangling lamps with some amount of oil in and a large dining gives a suitable place for the group to make any final division of wealth.
Lynette asks to take the green coins that Ka'lion could not value, speculating that they might be from the east and that the traders at the beseiged encampment might exchange them for goods. After division each of the remaining party members collects approximately 4 gold pieces, by weight, in gold and silver.
Ka'lion takes Garrot aside as he inspects the ale kegs but the halfling denies any knowledge of the scarab and refuses to pick through the possessions of another party member based on Ka'lions suspicions alone - he notes that Ka'lion had no idea when the scarab went missing, and suggests that the barbarian look towards the one member of their party who had demonstrated sticky fingers of late. Other than Ka'lion himself of course.
The rain continues the hammer down over night but has reduced to a drizzle by sunrise as the group settle any final business before going their own ways.
(last chance to trade, then on to the new thread for Ka'lion and George)

Okay, Ka'lion demands Garrot and Lynette empty their pockets and everything else they are carrying "I wanted to handle this quietly. As unintrusively as possible but as I am leaving in the morning. Vandania go through their things or this is going to end in blood. You can prevent it by going through their things and proving their innocence. I know you didn't take anything. And with George insistence on honesty it is highly unlikely he'd steal from anyone. When Garrot joined us he wanted treasure. It's possible that because treasure is not what we are looking for he decided to obtain it from us. This is not how I wanted this to end. But it seems it cant end any other way. Just as a percaution Goerge, Vandania and I will also be searched. I wouldn't want to be accuesed of being dishonest. But this result is better then then me leaving my friends behind and learning someone stabbed them in the back." said Ka'lion, "Vadania everything comes off and I do mean everything is searched. It's better to be forgiven then to be killed in your sleep."
Take 20's only. Ka'lion has not stolen anything he doesn't need. He doesn't think Vandania is likely to unless it is a emergency and George tendency to get upset over misunderstandings suggest to Ki'lion he's unlikely to steal from party members and he now knows Ka'lion wont take anything from party members unless it's a emergency. But that does leave two party members with questionable ethics. Now Ka'lion has not had any reason to challenge Garrotes' ethics until now. So he's just going to follow though on it. Putting himself, Vadania and George to also be searched is a sign that he doesn't think they have done anything underhanded against his party. He's confident that a throw search will find the missing things before he leaves.

Is he making this demand before or after resolving the possible trade with Vadania?

After. He sees nothing wrong with keeping honest trade going. She may rescent it but Ka'lion is watching her back.

Then we should resolve the trade first. Does Ka'lion accept Vadania's counter offer?

After the trade: (You search George, he does not have it.)
" Is it possibly it was used in a trade at berr town i know we got a lot of hats and other scrolls and i know i bought mine with gold. I know dagger with the rose was traded. Altar could have it you know i would not put it past him. He was a jurk after all."

(I can't speak for Garrot's player on this matter)
Lynette looks shocked at Ka'lions implication that someone might be killed over a lost trinket, and regards the barbarian with a newfound contempt as she empties her belt-pouch onto the table.

No. Vadania's counter offer would be turned down. The hammers a good aligned artifact - the only fair trade for it is another artifact. What you are offering him for it are one use items. In truth trading the Ancient Holy symbol of Pelor is an artifact tied to the hammer. If you want to get the most out of them - you need both but only an idiot would trade two artifacts and not get an artifact in return. . As long as you claim to be good aligned. The lizardmen stuff are a poor trade for it but at least they work more then once. As I said it is the only thing you have to trade for it fairly is the wood sword.
"Altar may of stolen it but I really doubt it. I may not like the guy much but that doesn't make him a thief. He was also welling to pay me personal treasure when I was pissed at the bully that calls himself a priest. That is not the act of an wolf in sheep's clothing. That's the act of a man with a kind heart. Kind people don't steal unless they have little choice.
Xana may of stolen it and then want into hiding when she thought I was after her and we can ask them if we need to. But things have been missing lately. It would be improper to accuse them without making sure none of use are carrying other peoples property. And we already know Lynette thinks it is okay to steal from her family. Now I don't know her family but I really doubt that's okay with them. Of course I well speak to her brother and the rest of her family about it if I need to.
The scarabs an artifact. I insist on doing everything I need to to get it back. I'm making sure my captain has a team that is not going to stab her in her sleep so we can work together in the future but my captain doesn't like to think poorly of her team." said Ka'lion

Vadania comments, "I haven't seen that Scarab on you since before we met Garrot. Maybe it woke up when exposed to moonlight and just flew away while you were sleeping."

"I don't think so. Artifacts are built to last. Now it may be possible for the artifact to telaport it's owner but that would only make it even more importent to get it back. I not only could get to the barbarains but I could return fast enough to help you." said Ka'lion

Look i have a few ideas : the list of fights and places you have been too are vast. That means it can be any manner of places. If you can narrow them down then it might stand a chance in finding it. No one here has it, wait did you have it in the displacer beast fight? The goat men could of knocked it off, there are just too many places to look. Fallen off when you took to the dive in water. All the Undead monster fights. You can see quite a list. I get you want it back, i wait a second. I have locate object. If its around here i could try it if you want, but as you know it has limited range.

"Go right ahead and try to locate it - but don't be surprised if the spell reveals nothing. Some artifacts may be sheilded from such spells. I'm still waiting for Lynette to undress and for Vadabia to thoroughly search her. I'm pretty sure she would not want one of the males to do it. But we can." said Ka'lion clearly meaning it.

Vadania answers, "You haven't been wearing the scarab since we met the goblins. No one here other than me could possibly have because they weren't there. And I don't have it either. "
"So I'm not going to undress anyone for you. "
OOC: So when we were dividing the treasure from under the temple, how did it happen that Ka'lion got 5 items (book, axe head, hammer, holy symbol, and scarab), while Vadania only got one (sword)?

The items under the temple where all fighter things and he was the only fighter in the party and the book was worthless: a night light - Ka'lion risked dying to get it. And even he only kept it as a night light. Only after everything was over did the book become important and it is still just a night light - no one can read it. It's worthless. The ax head Ka'lion wanted (it's a primitive weapons and those are the kinds of things Ka'lion likes, the hammer no one wanted, the holy symbol no one wanted ( different gods) and the scarab Ka'lion wanted ( it's a golden bug: that to appealed to him) - Ka'lion became the parties pack rat. They where useful tools otherwise we would of left them behind. No one wanted to be carrying the extra weights. The wood sword was the only thing you could use as a druid. You didn't want anything else because you couldn't use it ( scarab you can use it but you don't want it) The breast plate armor the cleric could use but he didn't want the hammer. (wrong god) Ka'lion ended up with a lot because no one wanted it. That's not his fault and he owes you nothing for it - you didn't want it. It was to heavy. It wasn't class helpful. Now that he's been carrying a extra heavy load pushing his middle weight load to their limits to and the only way he could do that was by wearing no armor. Now your having second thoughts and that is your own fault. As a barbarian Ki'lion does not waste a lot of materials. So don't blame him because your druid lacks wisdom. Ka'lion doesn't waste things. Junk he finds he tends to keep if it's useful or neat and he doesn't even take the heavy stuff. So you need to stop blaming him because he tends to keep useful things he finds and a lot of it is junk that no one wanted. He sells most of it for coppers so he can reduse the weight he's carrying.

"Lynette it's your choice. I don't want to undress you to search you but I will if I have to. Just because my captain is an idoit doesn't mean I am. I wish all this never happened but once you take any path - you need to try to finish it. Garrot your next." said Ka'lion
