George rides Ka'lion shapeshifts into and wolf and we charge to the rescue. Note: We are not just charging in. We may be charging right passed if what we see looks like it's more then we can handle. Describe what we see.

Quickly cresting the hill that blocks your view the scene below you is grim, a dozen men lay dead in the dip below and the last three of one 'side' - wearing ordinary clothing - are making their last stand against seven armoured men who wear the same uniform as the group you encountered and Melwyn's house.
All appear human, though the uniformed individuals wear helmets. Even though their attentions are elsewhere it is likely one or both groups will quickly spot George if he lingers atop the rise.

Ka'lion assumes human form, "The drow elf's side. How about we shot a few of the armored bullies as we ride out of range. I don't think we can save any of them but we can provide a little bit of a distraction." says Ka'lion loading him bow and targeting the closest men to us."

George stops and waits for ka'lion to scout like always. When he is back in a wishper. " I have obscuring mist, should make more interesting if you want . Can't say it will do much. i am not good at shoting and riding at same time, i dont have much practice at it, ruins aim badly. Yet if you want me to fire i can but running he will wipe out the town. Someone has to put him down."
He then Loads his crossbow

" I am not leaving those men to die cause we led drow here. That is on you and me. Im not being good hero im making up for my blunder that led him here. I dont think we can win but we can light him up like a Christmas tree."
He then lays so not to be spoted takes aim, at drow men when he has clear on drow he opens fire.
(Is he surprised? )

It doesn't matter, they have no dex bonus. Range is 230 feet, you have the high ground, and you are shooting into melee (you may impose a -4 penalty on yourself to avoid hitting the defenders). So well within range but not an easy shot against an armoured opponent - George can see even at this distance the sun reflecting off the chainmail worn by the warriors, much the same as the last group.

"I don't think we lead them here as we have never been here before. Fireaway." says Ka'lion,
composite longbow
lvl +2 dex +1 range 120 each-4, chain -4, Ka'lion is not going to avoid try to hitting the victoms. but they are not his targets. He's picking off the men farest away from the victoms first.
So he's firing at -5 = needs a 15 or better. pAMlwdy2p_1-20

We have the advantage as long as we pick off the warrairs that are not in the melee as long as they can use their victoms as sheilds we are firing at -4 ( do to Ka'lions long compossite hes at -4 if they run away or run toward us so he doesn't care one way or the other. If the victoms are all dead they have nothing to bargon with. We play this right we might get some answers we can use.

Once more making fight an impossibly ) You are faced with 7 level 1 warriors, some wounded. You are level 4 characters, you have three NPCs fighting with you, complete surprise, all of your spells, no environmental hazards, and are at full health with a full stock of magical items and you move at twice their speed. All of your frustrations are tied up in the assumptions you are bringing to the game. And there is nothing I can do do change your assumptions.

8's should miss. Don't get descuraged without trying. If we die we die. we need 15's thats doable just not a sure thing.

Both shots go wide, though the combatants below are too invloved in their own fight to notice the newcomers at this point.
The three they have surrounded seem to have some small skill in combat, clearly they are not simple farmers but unarmoured and outnumbered the outcome of this battle is clear.
