"Considering everything we have faced in the past, a few goblins seem no reason to abandon our quest."

Bennegar pats Lizzy and seems to be communicating with her, silently, for a moment, before pulling back his hood to reveal his crystaline face. His make-shift mouth cracks open and he nods, saying audibly, "My intentions mirror my companions'. You will have no trouble from me while under your hospitality." Having been the target of discrimination based on his appearance for most of his life, Bennegar has no issues with accepting that these goblins are different than others he had encountered recently. In fact, the title "wordbearer" intrigued him; perhaps they would have tomes and writings for him to peruse while his companions were otherwise occupied...?

Frakra bows and waves them in. Those inside put away their weapons, those on the gates turn their attention outward. Once the group enters, the gates are closed again.
Inside the buildings are as patched as the walls, more repairs than original structure. Still, the buildings are serviceable and look reasonably sturdy.

Bennegar scans the patchwork city before him, looking for any sign of a library or something similar. He turns to the group and inquires, "Is my presence required, or am I at leave to do as I wish?" He didn't speak with a submissive tone, but rather an independent one, making it clear that he was not asking permission, but simply wanting to know if he would be more a hindrance or a help to the group's research.
((Benny is VERY curious about these goblins, since they appear to be more scholarly than anything else. If given leave to wander, he will search the city for sources of general and arcane knowledge, and return to the group every so often to check in.))

zem fully understands, he is getting better at understanding his friends
" benny just please stay out of trouble k, i dont have much gold to get us out of jail. low profile for now is best. Just keep an eye on your belongings. If you find any info please let us know asap. "
"rest of us should try to look for rooms in a inn, if they even have one, we are staying away from the bars tho, like they said if things get broken in bar fights people have to pay so to advoid that unneeded expence, unless bar is in the inn best we stay clear."
Normaly bars were a place of fun for zem. Yet his gut in this part, bars were hub of trouble. he is not an undercover officer on duty in a city with such lax laws, Harknail must feel on edge too.
" after we get rooms, we should look at the shops"
" see you bit later benny."

OOC: Oh and if anyone wants to roll to assist my insight check that would be lovely. they may be non-hostile to travelers but hostile to historians for all we know. Given that they probably live on top of such a potentially powerful thing, they may be well aware of what we are probably looking for.

Looking at the crowd, Stravanya sees mostly curiosity. She sees a couple that look distrustful (they don't trust the group), they notice her looking at them and glare at her. And she spots one scrawny goblin that appears to be discreetly sizing them up. She suspects he may try picking one of their pockets if he thinks he might get away with it.

Barbatos scanned the buildings and ruins as they walked, looking for anything that might once have been constructed with magic rather than common engineering. The books gave little indication as to why their author frequented this place but did mention a few landmarks - a large well, a garden of falling water, an open theatre of arched stone and the market on the path that he walked to get there. Finding any one would narrow down their search to a smaller part of the city.
"Keep your eyes open for the ruins of a theatre building, circular with arched walls" said Barbatos. Best not to waste time lest whatever invitation they had here turned sour.

Bennegar nods toward Barbatos, silently showing his intent to keep an eye out for such a building as he wanders. He cracks open his make-shift mouth and mutters to Zem, "I'll stay with the group until we find an inn, so I know where to meet back up with you when my wandering ends." Lizzy mutters something, and he hushes her silently. An astute observer would know that the sentient weapon was restless for some reason, and was quivering slightly in frustration.

OOC: wait I'm confused. How do we know that' stuff is what the book said to look for? I must have been looking in the wrong thread when I jotted down everything we know from the book after reading it on the journey here. Where should I be looking? (In case I missed something else)

OOC: He's making it up, which is fine. This is a collaborative story after all. To be clear, Sarnath was the base of operations, NOT the area being searched. It was the biggest city in the region then, which made it a good point to restock and rest between excursions. Even after all this time and all the changes, this is still true.
Stravanya has a good idea how to find the excursion destinations (except for the section that was ripped out). I have one in mind, but that's for next level. So if you want to make something up, go ahead. I'll flesh it out and make an adventure out of it

OOC: wait I'm confused. How do we know that' stuff is what the book said to look for? The whole book thing is just a manufactured reason to go wandering - until such time as Harknail throws an adventure hook our way

If anyone has any adventures you'd like to see, now is the time to speak up. I have the adventure set for next level, but I'm still trying to come up with something for this level.
As the group moves though town, they do see an occasional person that isn't a goblin. So far they've spotted a dragon born walking down the street (who gave them a long glance before continuing on his way).
As they pass a bar they hear a couple loud voices coming from inside. After a moment, they realize that they are speaking common, and the loud voices aren't hurling insults, but rather are a passionate philosophical (if not a deep one) discussion. Peeking inside they can see that the discussion is between a goblin and a female razerclaw shifter.

Zem has seen not many dragonborn but know they are quite handy in a fight depending what God they fallowed that was.
Zem will tell the inn keeper he would like a few rooms and pays for them.
To the group : " I think it wise to make allies within the city quickly. Perhaps starting with that dragonborn we just saw. That dragonborn depending on what god he/she fallows could be an assest or major threat. unless you want to see what these two are up to, ether way getting others to help us would be a good idea."

( for encounter ideas : big monster killing goblins in middle of the night or
big monster that has gotten agressive and is " expanding " its area goblins are getting eaten.
anything with big monsters we can fight would be nice change from fighting huminoid things.)
