Moving back into formation the group heads down the stairs. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, Lincoln can see an empty room ahead, but also that the room is much larger than shown by the beam of light. He asks that one of the light spells be transferred to a copper coin, then tosses the copper coin into the darkness. He then peaks around the corner at the now lit room. The room has four stone coffins, all of which show signs of vandalism and abuse, one which has it's cover laying next to it. The wall the characters entered on and the opposite wall each have 4 niches. The first niche along each wall holds a suit of armor. On the opposite end of the room is a raised section of floor with a makeshift altar set atop it. Two kobolds are at the alter, many others are scattered about the room, most with cover so that Lincoln isn't sure how many are there. He estimates at least half a dozen, maybe as many as a dozen. And all the ones he can see are well aware of the group and looking in their direction. Map (updates as positions change) Tag all. The entire room is at least dimly lit, so no attacks out of the darkness. Neither side has surprise. The solders (and perhaps others) realize that the first ones in the room are going to have a lot of stones thrown their way. How do you want to proceed? And while you're at it, roll initiative.

Without waiting for a reply, she dashes forward shield-first and shouts, adrenaline surging in her veins.
Beth takes a Dodge action and moves to I-12. Come at me, kobolds.

The closed caskets, closed casket, and broken lid are all difficult terrain (sorry I didn't point that out when describing the area), it takes double movement to enter those squares. If Beth tried to get to I12 by the shortest path, she'd run out of movement at H13, standing on the coffin. Do you want to go there, or somewhere else?

The path I had in mind was F16, G15, H14, H13, I12. Should be 7, 14, 21, 26, and at least 1 foot of movement remaining for the last square, if I'm counting right.

( It may be that moving on the stairs still counts as two sqs of move. so moving onto that first space may be the hick-up in that total math, idk just something I saw that might make a difference tho im still new to this eddition.)

For some reason I located I12 as J12. Your movement plan is good. Moving down these stairs is NOT difficult terrain (that might not always be the case).

As Beth steps into square H14, there is a click under her feet. The visor opens of the armor in square F13 and a dart is launched from inside the helmet. This catches Beth by surprise, but though she didn't expect this attack, she was expecting trouble.
OOC: Advantage from surprise canceled by Disadvantage from Defense action resulting in normal attack.
Dart attack: puJOEnS1p_1-20+4=7
But apparently Beth wasn't in the expected spot, the dart completely misses her.1-20

Elir can't take on that many attacks at once given his ac/ hp.
Do we have anyone who still has left to go before kobolts who has high ac/hp?
If not 8 attacks into one person is not great.

Shen and Bishop are the other tanky characters. Bishop is moving after the kobolds, but Shen hasn't rolled yet. Hurick is also a melee fighter and is going to have to run out there at some point; his AC is not as high because he doesn't have a shield, but he has decent HP.
If those coffins provide cover, that's worth an AC boost, FWIW.

The coffins do indeed offer cover (the kobolds are making use of that). So that allows characters to advance while still being difficult targets.
I haven't seen a post for Shen in quite a while.

Entangle has a range of 90 feet, but Elir can't move to F15 because Lincoln is already there.

( sorry my eyes read it wrong. Elirs move should be to move to F16. that is the open space, yet hows that for cover fire .)
