Arcane Herphent has a number of benefits and meets some of my objectives but it misses the important ones - with my characteristics I have a low wisdom - 11 currently - 15 once I reach 20th level. Ka'lion started with a 10. I could never proswade any of my players to take the risk - I decided to try it myself. shapechanger is fast track on all attacks and saves and Ka'lion well need that to become my version of a ranger - - Arcane Herphent has d6 hit points per level - shapchanger a d8 like a ranger does. However it is the shapeshifting that has always been the color of this build - Size of a monkey. Size of a panther! Size of an elephant! ( a personal favorite cartoon from my childhood was the Arabian Knights - and Ka'lion was inspired by the shapchanger) Arcane Herphent lacks the number of forms Ka'lion could take. A shaper changer learns a thousand faces for instance like druid does. Ka'lion could sell his hat of disguise then as that's an at will power. In all the build makes him a master at shapeshifting, with strong saves and a strong melee attack form or 4 attacks each turn at 20th level with useful spell use as both a wizard and as a druid. No high level spells perhaps but as the most powerful spells as a druid are limited by Ka'lions wisdom. I see little to be gained from it. But for spell advancement it wasn't a bad idea just doesn't satisfy my objectives as well as the shape changer does. Besides I think the GM's already said my build is a powerful one. I'd like to see if he's right.

Ka'lion peers at the scroll he had been given, able to read the arcane runes but unsure if he possessed the arcane power to wield it. Despite his experience of magic he was only a novice wizard and feared the scroll might catch fire or explode if he miscast it. Besides I think the GM's already said my build is a powerful one. I've said the opposite, but you are ultimately free to build your character up as desired. Ka'lions combat should hopefully pick up when he is fighting in ape-form or whatever his wild shape aspirations are.

As Ka'lion reads from the scroll the runes fade away, leaving a blank parchment. He waits for a few minutes hoping for a reply but none comes, and he returns inside confident that the spell had worked but less confident that his grandmother had forgiven him.

"I recognise a few of the symbols but it does not appear to be a map, at least not one that could be used to find the demons. I sensible precaution to prevent any who found it using it as a guide to free them."
Scratching his chin he continues, "I suppose the images might make more sense in context of lore and secrets passed down by the descendants of those who fought them, and the images do give some idea of how each was contained - this" pointing at one of the first images "seems to be the silver flame."

Vadania responds, "I can confirm that. The demon held in the Silver Flame was released and was trying to put out the flame. We fought the demon and weaked it enough that the Silver Flame could recapture it. Ka'lion came up with the idea of attacking though the Silver Flame at the demon, those attacks were especially effective."

"Odd that it should stay close to a source of such weakness. Perhaps these prisons are not so easily broken, or perhaps something of what ties them to this mortal world was weakened by their imprisonment."
"A matter to be investigated further. What do you feel you would need in this pursuit?"

"Oh geez, don't ask Brennen to anticipate everything we might need," says Tink. "He'll spend days coming up with a comprehensive plan of action while we all die of boredom."
"I don't do that!" says Brennen. "(Very much. Anymore.)" he adds under his breath.
"Look, what if you give us some way to contact you? Sending stones, or two-way mirrors, or Whispering Sand, or whatever. Then if there's some way you can help us that we haven't thought of, we can call you up and you can send it along."

"That's not a bad idea. How much should it cost? And is their a way to prevent the wizards from listening in?" asks Ka'lion, "I think we prefer with demons to go to the mage in Woldgard. Vedanta's paranoid and I'm just careful."

"I see them as a small investment for what might be but it will take at least a day to obtain them. The stones are crafted in pairs and so should not be easy to intercept, though you should be cautious of your spoken words as others may seek to scy upon you if they know your goals."
"Now, I can teleport you closer to the eastern gate if that is your goal. Best I do not reveal myself to the cabal at this point in time, but are you perhaps here seeking something else?"

We could just ask him to carry a bag of sand, and then Vadania could use Whispering Sand (3rd level Druid spell) to contact him through it. But it's still worth asking if he has extra sending stones lying around. You never know. Could save some spell slots.

That spell isn't in my PHB, so I didn't know about it. But that sounds like a great idea. It might take a day to change spells, but it allows Vadania to talk for over an hour, and we can do it whenever we need to without expending expensive items.

We could just ask him to carry a bag of sand, and then Vadania could use Whispering Sand (3rd level Druid spell) to contact him through it. You can make the suggestion as the magic is well known in the eastern kingdom, but as a consequence far less secure than sending stones. In the empire the spell is used primarily by arcane casters though.
