At this point George is amused.
" Yes i totaly would hence why im not going. See ka'lion you did teach me a few things after all. You realize this is almost the exact same conversation that was had last time we were here. Sorry but i find it amusing the party is trying so darn hard to get me to go swiming when all it would do is get me killed. When i kindly declined its but you have to come. No I don't have to and i won't its that simple. This is twice now they have done this crap now and its is warring me thin at this point. Its like they insist what I want to do is always wrong and what they want just has to be the way to go ok go down there then i won't stop them but i sure darn won't go. Not counting i would most likly die:
A) no one would be up here looking after the camp and our gear for that matter. Or would we be just leaving highly valuable grear for others to come by and snach? B) A storm is mostlikly comming in possibly rising the tides/water lv and moving the currents faster down there making it more dangerious. C) Your druids for crying outload just turn into a darn sharks or something you don't even need me to go at that point. Even if you can't, i still cant pull out much do to water pressure down there making me go poinless anyway. D) I can't cast shit down there so consintration underwater is all but impossable making excaping all but impossible. Do you really need any more reasons as to why im not going? or should i continue? because i got more, lots more."

You can still use verbal components underwater.

You don't drown if you can breath water. And if you can breath water, you don't need to worry about swimming in armor. The armor holds you down at the bottom, and you just walk.
GM: Can you talk under water if you're breathing water?

I'd say no. There are two spastic feat's to cast spells underwater and none of us have either of them. Water distorts sounds so casting spells with verbal components should be impossible.

According the the Rules Compendium, page 149, spells function normally underwater unless you are making an attack roll or casting a fire spell. Pathfinder added a Concentration check for air-breathing creatures to speak a verbal component underwater, but such a rule is not present in 3.5, AFAIK.

The way to cast spells underwater would be gestures only. But it's the gas call. Feats are supposed to matter or their is little point to learning them.

Following Ka'lion the party finds the pool behind the waterfall to be fairly shallow (2 meters deep at its deepest point). Poking around at the bottom Ka'lion reveals a ships figurehead but it will take several people to drag it out, after it is more fully dug out of the mud. GM: Can you talk under water if you're breathing water? You can, but it's the same as if you held your breath, dived into a pool, and started talking - pretty muffled and largely unintelligible.
For the purposes of spellcasting underwater i'm imposing a DC15+spell level check for any spell with somatic components (negated by freedom of movement) and a flat 20% miscast for verbal components (as per deafness). Water breather does not remove the miscast, it just means you don't start to drown after casting.
I'm not familiar with the feats Ka'lion mentioned. I wrote a netcrawler to download the entire Realms Help feat section years ago and a search only came up with the aquatic spellcasting feat which removes the penalties from page 93 of the DMG

Gestures only was a champions reference - in 3.5 the feats called silent spell. The best example in the movies would be the Vincent Price film called The Raven

Valdania answers, "I most definitely am not trying to get you killed George. The point is that I have a spell that will allow the entire team to breathe underwater without drowning. Yes, I could change into a crocodile and go down there myself. But that means that if there is anything hostile down there, I am facing it alone and without backup. This is the same problem we had last time when only Ka'lion could reach it."
"But if you don't want to get wet, that's fine. Looks like a moot point anyway, since Ka'lion has wandered off again. Let's go see what he's up to."

"I found something. The figurehead of the ship. I'm guessing but I think if gives the ship the ability to fly. I can't think of any other way for a ship to get here. We are also here so I can teach all of you how to swim. I'm not diving on the wreck until you can swim. It wouldn't be safe for me. It' seems safe enough for me to teach you while we are here. If your afraid of the water like Goerge is stay in the shallow end while I teach the others." said Ka'lion

Before we get to were ka'lion is
To Valdania:
" I know your not trying to get me killed but your or your teams plans could and its unrealistic not to see that.
Simply put Ka'lion, you, the wolf and shamious are my only friends.
I have yet to turst the other two and given reaction in the tunnal and thus far and just now its hard for me too right now. For they keep giving me reasons not too.
For the record i never said go in by yourself for ya that would be a horrible idea and why the first time ka'lion did not go. Now he can for he has you as back up when before he did not. Its important to me the two of you do this together and that i stay up here.
( George has a hidden reason why he wants it for those two to go but is not saying. Its not mallishious or evil but these is something he is not saying.)
It worries me greatly that since i left and came back and i use this loosly " team" is not United. We each think our own reason is best, that only fractures us more.
I dont want to go yet everyone wanted to force me into doing something dangerous without carring how i felt. Its the second time i count now. Its a matter of respect. So next time please ask me if i want to go not just dictate for me or to me what i will or wont do. If i say no, or yes please respect my wishes instead of giving me facts of xyz as to why i can or can't. For i will have more then one comback facts as to why im going or not going.
I get i use to go with the flow and try to help. Yet i cant be anymore not after the things i have seen. Too long have i stood by. Look how that turned out? you still dont know what you want out of life. You gave up being a leader, ka'lion has lost turst in the party. Not to mention when one of your best friends shows back up, he got told nothing and told what he had to do, without even giving a shit about how he felt that one of his best friends out out there alone. Im not mad at this point but i am disappointed in the choices since i have been away. Im not taking orders anymore. Im going to do what i have to and what i think is righy. If i think a plan is stupid im not going to do it regardless what im told.
Im am sorry it has come to that but it is what it is.
Ya we should go get ka'lion."
George walks after ka'lion.
" sorry buddy i could not hear you i was a little far back to hear all of it. You said you found something? "

Vadania smiles at Ka'lion's idea of what he might have found. But she refrained from commenting on the idea. Ka'lion wasn't likely to be convinced otherwise until he had seen for himself.
She did comment on Ka'lion'soffer to teach them to swim, "What if the rest of us are no more interested in learning how to swim then George is? I now have magic to breathe underwater or transform into a aquatic creature."
OOC: Learning to swim takes significant resources during leveling up. While swimming lessons like these provide justification for spending skill points on swimming, wecan't actually gain swimming until the next time we level. and I for oneam not interested in spending scarce skill points in a skill that I have no use for.

I just hope no one cast's on you dispel magic while your in the water. You'd drown for sure. So we are back where we started. We are not diving on the wreck at all.

"I guess we won't be swimming together. Your loss. Learning to swim should be one of the first skills a druid should learn. But I won't try to push you into it for the same reason that I'm not going to try to force George to swim. A bad swimmer will only end up drowning me if I tried to help them. So go ahead and drive on the wreck. I'm not coming. So far half the party is not confirmable with your choices. You don't suddenly learn to swim turning into a fish. Your just using magic in a dangerous way. No wonder you have trouble leading. You don't make others around you feel safe. Tink did you want to learn to swim?" asks Ka'lion

"Ten gold pieces says I can already outswim you," says Tink proudly.
"It doesn't count if you fly through the water," says Brennen.
"You're just jealous," Tink replies, sticking out her tongue and offering a generous string of Aquan profanities.
"Hey, don't get me wrong, I cheat too. I can teleport through water faster than most of you humans can swim. So I ain't gonna judge."

"Swimming is more then how fast you can swim. It's all about unhindered gentle graceful movement for the most part. Yes it's fun to get wet but for me. It's plssure to swim and it makes you stronger. So I take that as a no. None of you want to learn to swim." said Ka'lion

" O i want to learn thats not the issue. Im not scared i just felt it stupid to go if i was going to drown.
Its not a waste of time if we all get flung off side of a ship at somepoint.
Just because you know how do so something and you never use it all the time does not make it usless when you need to.
Take now for instance if i learned when ka'lion first wanted to go i could swim down there now. Shamious look after my gear for me and help me out of my armor.
Takes a bit to get out of the armor:
Ok ka'lion ready for my first lesson of the day."

"I'll right, we'll start with dog pataling. But you need to get in the water first." said Ka'lion wading into the water up to his waste.
