( ka'lion brings up a great point would my god be able to grant me spells on a different plane? ) As far as George knows yes - they are gods after all. Though within the home domain of a rival god or a place where magic itself is suppressed would be a different matter and George has no practical experience of plane shifting.

"We will need to completely circle this island just to be sure it's an island and not a demi plane. An island we can leave by boat. A demi planes we cant leave at all." said Ka'lion loosing intrest in the current project entierlly.

" We left a similar type of situation ka'lion just a few days ago.
If it is a dimi plane there are ways out just not as easy as opening a door as we found out. Im up for a walk but are you sure u want to scrap this project? i kinda want to find out what it actually can do. It may be the key or door to getting out of here the very thing your looking for to get out by the way. "

Elman replies to Ka'lion, "we haven't found any particular obstacles to travel here except mundane rivers, cliffs, and the like. The greatest problem with travelling far from the camp is getting back - the fog here hides landmarks and interferes with divination. We've been trying to figure out how to improve the teleportation glyph to work with recall stones, without success so far."
Primm adds, "there has been some suggestion of setting out with a horse and plough, just carving a line out to the coast that anyone can follow back. But we didn't have a plough."

"I don't like traps and I don't like to be in them. The fog should be something an permenent wind wall spell can deal with given enough time. Combined with colored smoke it should be possable to track the fogs dirrection if it has any source and if it does. Perhaps it can be turned off. Goerge if you want to contenue here we can - I just don't like being put into a box!" said Ka'lion

"We've tried wind and fire and dozens of other magics. The fog is like an illusion, an aspect of the magical screen that covers this place. Something powerful like an anti-magic field might negate it locally, but I doubt even the skull council could make a dent in the larger evocation." States Primm, "that's what makes this place perfect, a screening enchantment of this power is a great protection."
Elman seems less impressed, "if you have reached the end of your interest already the camp is back that way." The trail they made getting here is easy enough to follow.

(as an aside, if you choose to leave a quest/puzzle you can either leave it open to come back to or have NPCs solve it to open up later adventures in the chain)

"I like puzzles. I just dont like being in traps. Traps tend to snowball. Puzzles just take time to figure out. We need some type of tracking spell that illusions cant deseave and and divanations can'r perceve. I think that what the water drops are for. Maybe a ball of string spell. An evocation that creates a powdered road that could be grided out. But. Will I have an idea." Ka'lion trainsforms into a King Cobra. And just studies the effect of the power on the site. As a druid he can remain in the 200pound form as long as he wants to.

As with Georges turn undead the transformation has no effect on the lights. Ka'lion judged that they are responding to the actual effort of spellcasting, the gathering of energy that a mage might disrupt with a dispel magic spell for instance, whereas wild shaping represents the use of energy already held within an individual built up slowly with rest.
He believes that if he had used polymorph, alter self, or a similar spell his magic would have triggered an effect here.
With all the spellcasting it does seem Primm was right, and that what Elman saw was triggered by something else. Perhaps - as it has been suggested - other spellcasters on another plane or in another location. Searching the full area of the lights reveals little more save for a few scorch marks in the grass similar to those created by the groups spells but far from where they have been experimenting, and at least a few days old.

Does Ka'lion leave tracks in his King cobra form? If he does perhaps a trail can be created. Creating a plow is easy for our party. Polling it using a big pig should be doable as well.

He does, unless he uses his trackless step ability. A plough or similar would just leave something more permanent - Shamious could make one easily enough with materials.

"Well lets see. Are there any buildings found so far? They should be found near water or lookout points? Suggestions?"asks Ka'lion, "And if the fogs an illusion. We are going to need the help of the childern and the weakest members on the skull cansell. It's rare that we can find jobs suitable for them. But the undead can't see illusions. Illusions have no effect on them. They can see what we cannot without knowing nothings there or is there. They just tell us what they see and we try to see it. Of course childern can be pranksters. But it might be a way to defeat the fog - assuming any part of it is an illusion. The only spell I know of that turns you into the undead is ghostform and I think it's well outside of anyones ability to cast. Turning into an animated self awere object might work but I don't understand how animated creates see. It might be a step forward. Are any of the skull folk on the isle?"

"The entire council is on lockdown behind wards and dimensional anchors because of the Dreamlord, but until we know more about this place we don't want to risk bringing them through"
Aside from the campsight Ka'lion hasn't seen any buildings marked on his copy of the map, nor any signs of life until now.
Illusions and undead are more of a mixed bag - patterns and phantasms for instance do not work, whereas a shadow illusion can harm an undead as it would any other. It depends on whether the illusion is projected into the air like a mirage or into the minds of those who view it. Though with the exception of shadows they usually all fail against undead on contact.

"So we still need undead as guides. They may be a mixed bag but it's still a constructive step forward. And I still need to call anew animal companion and a new familier. Has anyone done so yet?" asks Kalion

Primm shakes her head, "no, not yet. Summoning spells do work here while gates and planar contact spells do not, so I do not know what success you will have. But there are many animals living here and they seem normal enough."

"So it is a useful exsparament. we'll do it back at camp where everyone can witness the outcome. I left my animal companion and familier in their native lands when we headed here for the animals safety. We might learn something new about local creatures. one possability would be baby elamentals. As the area seems to favor the elaments but we will soon see what happens." sas Ka'lion, "Goarge are you finished? I think we are going to need to look elsewhere to find additional answers." After thinking a few minutes, "I'd want an air elamental here. Less chance of things going bomb."

George has been I deep thinking
" Sorry ka'lion normally I fallow most your conversation I only interject when need be. This one however I felt my mind to wonder what is going on here.
This one I can honestly say I'm out of me depth on, I can admit when I am and I need too. tho it's amazing to study and see what it does and has done so far . Normally my study would tell me what is going on or should anyway, but casters far better then me don't even know.
That is both worrisome and amazing at the same time. As to the new idea I have learned to let you work out your ideas some pass on others of your failed but in the end it brings out the best in you.
Do know I have used a lot of spells testing out here but that ok I needed to do so for the tests.
I can come with tho I do wish to come back and study more. "

Elman is eager to head back to the comforts of the camp, having not wanted to be here in the first place, but Primm wishes to stay.
(as mentioned - just decide between you on 'abandon' or 'delay' for quests to indicate if you want NPCs to take them over or not. The actions of the group have given Primm enough clues to solve the puzzle if they want to be elsewhere.)
