Ka'lion is given the list. There are fourteen people there in total, none missing though they do go out alone and in groups to scout.

THEN WE ARE READY TO GO.

With the hour finally at hand the group assembles on the portal stone as a white magical mist builds up around it, thicker and thicker until the party is blinded and then the stone seems to go soft under their feet and the mist clears away to the sound of wind and wild creatures.
The party stands in a strange forest, the moon directly overhead. This is clearly not the camp but they should be close, and come morning should be able to use nearby landmarks to find their direction.
For the next few hours until dawn though they have a little time to acclimatize and ready the cart for travel, with no roads here it may be a somewhat weaving path through the trees to the campsite.

We get some rest and wait until morning. Ka'lion will use his watch to identify the animals he hears. +15+vv5jWboTp_1-20=33 nature knowledge

Ka'lion sits back and waits for dawn. Some animals he hears he identifies immediately while others are entirely unknown to him despite his extensive knowledge - perhaps unique to the island.
After a few hours the sun begins to rise casting a muted orange light across the forest. Consulting their map and the silhouette of distant mountains Ka'lion believes they have come down a number of miles from the camp on the wrong side of a river. The river itself provides a fairly large target to aim for though and finding the camp from there should be trivial assuming they don't run into one of the other members of the camp.
Horse and wagon at the ready, the group can move out.

We move out on foot. I dont want the horse to break a leg unless it is performing in the theater.

The group travels for about a mile as the sun rises above them, slow going through the trees and foliage with the cart.
With mid-day and lunch approaching the groups progress is delayed by a curious sight - glowing orbs floating through the air infront of them, in convoy, like will-o-wisps or giant glowing pollen. The come from the mist and vanish into it with no sign of where they go but here they seem to block the groups path.

We keep moving. If we are attacked we will respond. If we are not we don't mind being watched.

The floating orbs block the groups path - not actively, they simply flow across the path as if blown by the breeze.
The group could travel up or down the stream of the orbs, through them, contrive some way to go over or under them, wait for them to cease if indeed they do, or perhaps use magic of some form to resolve the obstruction.

Ka'lion thinks they are intended as guides but for whom he's not sure.

"I think they are guiding lights - or dancing lights intended to light a path. I'm just not sure who put them there - it could be like the will-o-wisp and lead to a trap or a path to our campsite or a form of miss direction to get us lost. All of those are possible reasons for it. The most likely outcome is it leads to camp. But we need to go slow and stay alert." says Ka'lion following the map and the river.

Looking at the map Ka'lion and George determine that the path the lights take is not towards the camp, though they may change direction further up.
However they do block the groups path to the camps given location and a way must be found around, under, over, or if the party wishes it - through them.

Ka'lion looks closely at the path the lights are following for tracks from other carts and horses - it could be the lights are showing the only way the cart can go.

There are no signs of tracks in the area, save for those of small animals. The group had not seen any signs of human life or other civilization since arriving.

We follow the map. And keep going

We follow the map. And keep going The floating orbs are still directly in your path - do you wish to go around (up or down stream), through them, or bypass them in some way? They are an obstruction - like a river or cliff edge - that the party must navigate to continue. With little in the way of combat encounters or obstructive NPCs i've got to give your characters something to do.

Ka'lion starts looking around for a means to make a buterfly net for the orbs.

Twigs and branches are all he finds, though he could cut and untwine the ropes from the wagon.
