Several of the people at the camp are experienced in elemental magic.

Arthur. He is followed constantly by a trio of ice mephits who do his bidding and Ka'lion knows him to be highly knowledgeable of the other elements - unlike many such specialists he has not limited his casting to a single one.

"TELL ARTHUR WE ARE BRINGGING FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO THE CAMP AND TO SEND A GUIDE TO TAKE US THERE!" shouts Ka'lion

There is no response, as the small ice puddles begin to spread out freezing the ground where the party is camped. Though at least they are not animated fire...

"Goarge how do you want to deal with the mephet's? They most likely belong to Author. We are going to be working with him soon. They most likely speak the water tongue." say's Ka'lion

They aren't mephits. George doesn't think they are alive at all, rather a magical response to the fire and then to the water created by Ka'lion. Much like the floating orbs of water on the other side of the river.
It seems that the magic around here is active. George didn't see anything like this further out, only near the river. Some kind of lingering enchantment that had been damaged or disrupted here.

( im not exactly clear on the info he just got. Are you saying its magic gone wrong and there actually not there?) As far as George can tell the ice spreading through camp is the result of Ka'lions magic interacting with some kind of ambient magic in the forest. He doesn't think this is what the ambient magic was design to do, rather that it has faded or become erratic since its original casting - likely a flaw in the mythal, the vast web of spells cast over this entire island. He does know that the ice is not caused by Mephits as Ka'lion suggested.

George explains as best he can - the ice, though it moves, does not seem to be driven by any life or intelligence, rather it and the fire before it are reacting to elemental energy.
George believes it is caused as a lingering effect of ancient and powerful magic in the area, probably the same magic that caused the floating orbs of water the group encountered earlier.
This doesn't seem to be an attack but it may still be dangerous.

Then we pack up and head out.

Deciding it is best to leave this odd magic alone Ka'lion and George quickly pack up and move their cart away from the area and the frost begins to spread behind them.
The group put a reasonable distance between themselves and the magic, though it is slow going in the darkness, and after an hour pause to decide if they wish to push on in the dark conditions or wait for sunrise.

" Ka'lion i know u wanted to get there as soon as possible but fumbling in the dark might not be the best idea. I am still warry of using any of my magic unless absolutely necessary especially after what we just saw."
Shamious : " Um sirs back there the water things if we tried to cross would they try to drown us? "
George looks at ka'lion and they most likely felt the same.
" We were not exactly sure but was not worth the risk. The possibility of the given happing was unkown but likly from what i recalled of the normal ones. Given what i did know it was not worth the risk. Ka'lion in the past has tried to teach me to swim something i still need to do. In our gear and not knowing how magic work here we were and kinda still are at that dissadvantage but we work with what we have. "
" Thats rule number 15 sir."
" Ah yes : use any of what you do have, to all possible uses. For you can make your own solutions in doing that. You wont ever slove it not by mooping for the things u dont have."

Camping up for the rest of the night the party has an uneventful sleep and, with the sun rising once more, get their bearings and head towards camp.
It takes nearly half a day but the group eventually come across the camp clearing - exactly where the map indicated it would be. There are domestic animals here, temporary structures, and evidence of recent activity but no guards or other humans at first glance.

Ka'lion will unpack the cart and feed and water the horse and animals. Just in case they haven't been fed yet. Then they will search the camp for the others.
