As the party moves in someone pops up from one of the small buildings, Ka'lion recognises him as Hubert - the man has fiendish blood and a few of the more interesting powers that come with it, but he studies as a mage and is relatively proficient at mundane magic.
"Ka'lion? Have you been exiled again?", as he wanders towards the group George notes that he looks and sounds like a fairly unthreatening peasant, "I see you have the food - we have people out looking for you, but its hard to see anything here through all the trees and mists. Everyone else is watching for the cracks in the mythal before the new moon cycle settles down"

"I wasn't exiled. I was sent away so my grandmother didn't kill me. One day she'll forgive me I think but she'll need time to cool off first. My grandma does have a temper! That's not the same thing. These two are my partners in chaos. We've manage to survive in spite of ourselves. This is George and his student Samious. We got a little distracted by the water lights and the elemental campfires on our way in.
Now why don't you tell us about the campers and whose missing and what you know about it?" said Ka'lion, "And whose in charge?"

"No one is missing, they were looking for you, or rather the food." He scratches his cheek, "and I suppose as i'm the only one here right now I am in charge. I suppose we should get all this stuff unloaded and undercover before some animal or phantasm wanders in here and makes off with it"
Ka'lion thinks back to the list of people here, of the names he saw Arcturus - an aging arcane hierophant, would almost certainly be the senior individual. Though he was never much of a people person.

"Hows Archurus doing?" asked Ka'lion

"He doesn't spend much time at the camp, none of the shapechangers do. They have the best chance of finding their way around in this damned divination blocking fog."

"I'm going to need to study as a shapeshifter soon. But most of my family are good necromancers. Has something changed while I was away?" asks Ka'lion

"Something going on south of the Wastes, someone calling themselves the 'dreamlord'. No-one knows who or what they are, just that they are a powerful spellcaster and working their way north. It was decided that the skull council should move before he got to the wastes themselves, and this place seemed like our best shot"
He waves an arm at the forest, "no one here, powerful screens against divination, and getting in is almost impossible without a target point on this side - and even then as you have seen it's a narrow window"
"But the mythal here doesn't seem to be entirely stable, must have been many thousands of years since it was cast. We are trying to map out the faults and they are most apparent at the start and end of each moon cycle when the cracks appear that we can teleport in through"

"If you mean the island, we aren't sure. The camp itself though is located at the point at which we were first able to find this place. So far teleportations have made it through directly or close enough to find easily but we are always trying to map out what we can of the mythal itself, and I expect the final camp site will have to be somewhere a little more stable"

" What do u know as of the floria and fonina of the island. I am warry in my casting even tho it is devine branch of such. I know arcana is working bit oddly so im told.
Do you have a forge shamious here can make armor, swords and possible other metal work."

"We have a small forge over there", he motions towards the camp, "as for the plants and animals, some of it we recognise and others we don't. We are slowly taking stock as we search out from the camp."
"Magic though is a curious one as divine magic seems to work, yet the gods do not answer. We have... decided against drawing their attention to this place in other ways. But what do you mean by 'oddly'?"

George explains in bit of detail the kind of magic they saw so far and how it was reacting to what he snd ka'lion were doing.
To the news of the forge :" Wonderful, Shamious im sure u will find yourself with hammer in hand. Make what is useful to them, but in no way are u beholden to make things beyond of what is helpful."
This is a glint in shamious eye, a glint of joy.

Hubert scratches his cheek again as he considers Georges words, "we've not had anyone out beyond the river on foot. Sounds like there must be something creating those orbs of water though"
Shamious is able to find the forge easily enough in the small camp. It looks fairly primative but the fire is clearly magical and more than a few of the tools are either crafted from unusual materials or in a shape that he does not entirely recognise. There are also provisions here for glass blowing and a whole pile of empty vials and bottles nearby.

"Where's are the people hiding in the mists. Find them!" orders Ka'lion chasing after the wolf. When the wolf disappears, Ka'lion returns to the starting point When the wolf disappears Ka'lion put's a stick in the ground as far as the wolf got. Then he repeats the exercise until he runs out of wolf's to summon. What does he learn?
Note: Ka'lion is just excersizing his spells in the area. He already knows magic is behaving badly - so he's just studying the spells he's most likely to use to see how dependable they still are. That's all but - if he's right that the camp is being watched - the summoned wolves might point him in the right direction to look. Wolves have an enhanced sense of smell.

The wolf picks up the track of the group and then turns to track Shamious down at the forge. The second wolf tracks back from the forge to George and Hubert.
Ka'lion leads the remainder away from camp tracking the trail of what he guesses to have been one of the more recently departed camp members - he can see the footprints himself. The summoned wolves all seem to behave normally.
