And once I get a reply from a PM to Japic, I can also get a few things done...

Krysta tries to spot anything past the pillar where Caelith is hiding. (Ok, can Krysta see the spectral hand? If so, then single attack on it, +15 to hit, 1d8+2 +1d6 elec, 50% miss chance...) {Keep on it gents. There's nothing for me to do if you're gonna sit around hoping for the other to die of old age. If you're both too prideful to get dead first then I'ma have to mix things up with a little crowd based tampering. I'm not sure what yet, but don't make me think of something.} Actually, THAT'S what I was hoping for... something in this place for times like this. A 'failsafe' as it would be called, for those times when the fight lags... The crowd boo's with its audible dislike for the way the combatants have transgressed. The two arena fighters wait, and wait.... the crowd grows impatient, and their eyes all turn to the podium where they know he waits. They one with the power to do something. But, will he appease them?I was thinking of a few levers, a few twists and turning of gears, and viola! We have the need to react quickly, or die... Krysta knows that the mage has backup plans. She does as well...

{If it goes long enough (aka undetermined amount of rounds) without action I may do something, but don't count on it.}

((OOC)) So should I just keep taking actions, then? I was waiting to see if Fangor wanted to do something besides readying.

{No, Japic should revive me @ full health so that this battle will freaking go somewhere. Or revive all of us at full health and let us resume the fight!}

((OOC)) Screw it. Here's my next two rounds of action. After that, I'll be triggering Krysta's readied action.
Caelith, still chilling behind the pillar, realizes he'll have to be the one to get this contest moving. He casts a couple more spells to prepare himself, then slowly peeks around the corner to face his opponent.
((Cast Shield (round one), Cast Darkness on, I don't know, his signet ring (round two). Then on Cael's next round, move 5' right, attempting to keep as much of himself behind the pillar as he can while still seeing Krysta's location. This will trigger her attack and 5' step, after which I will continue with the rest of that action.))
AC: 21, Concealment (from Darkness, 20% miss chance)

{Sorry guys; I can't speak for Fangor. Hopefully he'll pop in and tell us what he's doing, even if that is ready for X action.} {And Malanuus already got his chance, so just you be quiet. }

((OOC)) Well, yeah, Fangor's got time to alter his readied action, or do something entirely different. But unless Caelith notices something else in those rounds, that's what he's doing. Just wanted to get those out there. Ball = Fangor's Court.

sorry, on site in Pecos, Texas right now. This battle is a tough one to figure out. With Caelith hiding, and me waiting to shoot him down, its the proverbial standoff....
Can I whistle and call in some aid? Since it's on my sheet, Shilo would be lumbering down from the crowd, intent on laying into Caelith, if not to only distract him, lol.
Krysta is NOT going to simply walk out and let the mage fire all that magic at her. She knows better. She's patient... He has limit for spells, she doesn't have a limit for attacks...
EDIT - Please wait, I updated too early...

Ok, Krysta's readied action is to be standing next to the pillar, bow aimed north, where she thinks Caelith is. Next, she readies to shoot him with the arrow, then 5 foot step back behind the pillar...
+15 to hit 20% miss chance f hit, then 1d8+2+1d6 Electric
AC 20 Reflex +9, Fort +12, Will +5 103/103 hp

((OOC)) Everything's the same for me. Caelith peeks out and gets shot at mid-action. Here's to hoping cover saves me!

{OK, thanks for updating Fangor, lets get this going again.} Readied to react to any signs of movement from behind the pillar Krysta waits patiently, knowing that sooner or later the mage would show himself. Caelith takes the opportunity granted to cast a spell, bringing a shield of force into being to protect himself from additional projectiles. he then focuses his training and concentrationa ld calls the very essense of shadow and darkenss into being around him. The effect centers on his ring and extends out on either side of the pillar. There are a few hisses from the audience as the inky spell blocks them from seeing the combatant, but otherwise they wait expectantly for the battle to resume. Sitll not hearing Krysta, the mage moves and peeks hit head around the corner, trying to get an eyeball on his former compatriot. {Trigger ready action} Also waiting expectantly Krysta notes the sphere of darkness move and holds patiently for her shot. There, encased within the cloud, yet still visable is the mage, her foe. Not waiting another moment she looses the arrow and doges behind the pillar before he can return fire. [dice=20](8)+15=23 vs AC 25 w/cover (if that's not right, let me know) The arrow flies true, straight on target, only being deflected by the stone pillar at the last second. If it hadn't interefered he'd have surely been skewered. (was there anything more to this action, or merely peeking out?) The crowd gives out a collective gasp, then groan as they see the arrow fly back out of the dark and lodge into the sand. So much for blood. Once more on the edge of their seats they cry for more! {Init is Krysta, then Caelith.}

((OOC)) There's more to that action. Also, Caelith's HP is at 40, per the potion he drank last page.
Caelith jerks back a moment as the arrow narrowly misses him - surely it would have hit him under other circumstances. Krysta certainly has good aim.
He focuses back on the task at hand, and his whole reason for poking his head out in the first place. Arcane energies swirl through his being, and he sends them out to the ground around Krysta, gesturing and calling the words of magic out. Massive black tentacles erupt from the ground around Krysta, reaching and grasping for her.
((OOC)) Casts Black Tentacles, centered on Krysta - or, well, the lower right corner of her square. 20' radius, automatically attempts to grapple with a +16 Grapple check (no touch attack required). If it succeeds, it will deal 1d6+4 damage. Even if it fails, movement is halved.

Seeing the tentacles around her, Krysta manages to withstand their grasping, keeping her bow in hand and knocking the nearest tentacle to the side. Turning her attention to Caelith, she knows it to be soon over, should the mage have his way...
OOC - Need clarification. As tenth level fighter, she would know how these work, hopefully. So, from the description, would she get grappled each round she is in this spread of tentacles or does it only work for ENTERING the area, as the spell states? Rules Mongers, please reply...
Spellcraft DC 19, [dice=20]+6, should pass to know this spell and possibly how it works.[rand=97300181220874662391602141759504645665768155987624880986605101746]

((OOC)) I'm pretty sure they'll grapple every round they're capable of grappling - i.e. every round Krysta is in their area. At half movement, it'll take a double move to leave their area. None of that should need a spellcraft - writhing, grasping tentacles should be a big enough clue.

OK, in that case, she would double move straight south, to get herself on the opposite end of these things, putting them between herself and Caelith, who is north, from what she thinks...
With those tentacles, do they provide complete cover, since they are ten feet tall? Just asking, lol
