Hey, all! I am Lord Claros, the Omni-Lord of Vim!
For those who are wondering, "Vim" refers to magic that are born from the life essence of those who use it. Think of it as a form of Blood Magic; it uses life energy rather than Mana or other magical resources. The word "vim", itself is a form of "vitality", so this is a fitting name, methinks.
Anyway, more about me. I am one of those role-players whom view themselves not as players who control characters, but as unknown and unseen deities who govern the actions and thoughts of personal avatars from afar. I tend to create avatars whom are almost completely adverse to the kind of person I am, however, which allows for interesting role-playing opportunities, to say the least.
My main avatars include the following...
Claros Flamestrike - Half-Elf Rogue/Wizard Hybrid
- His first name means "Of the Chosen".
- His surname refers to his family's tendency to be affiliated with fire.
Seirosia Flamestrike - Half-Elf Warrior/Sorcerer Hybrid
- Her first name mean "Power of Spirit".
- She is the twin sister of Claros, (above).
Alnira Brightblade - Human Paladin of Bahamut
- Her first name means "Light of Divinity".
- Her surname refers to the long line of divine paladins to have come before her.
Adosia Silvercrest - Tiefling Chaos Sorcerer
- His first name means "Power of Blessings".
- His surname refers to the powerful Crest that was bestowed to his ancestors, which granted all who followed in the line powerful magic.
Alternate versions of these avatars are...
Claros Shadosa - Revenant (Half-Elf) Assassin
- He is the arisen form of Claros Flamestrike, (above).
- His surname means "One with Darkness", a name that was given to him by the Raven Queen when she resurrected him as a revenant.
Seirosia Adii - Revenant (Half-Elf) Wild Sorcerer
- She is the arisen form of Seirosia Flamestrike, (above).
- Her surname means "Demon", which is a misnomer given to her by those whom are fearful of her powers.
Alnii - Deva Warpriest
- She is the immortal form of Alnira Brightblade, (above).
- Her name means "Goddess" or "Divinity", a name that was given to her when she appeared outside of her old hometown.
Adosia Zadiriana - Revenant (Tiefling) Chaos Sorcerer
- He is the arisen form of Adosia Silvercrest, (above).
- His surname means "Highest Power of Chaos", a title bestowed upon him by his master when Adosia surpassed him in power.
I am not new to D&D, though I am not very experienced with it. This is because I have not played very much of it. I hope to change this with my joining of this site. I am an avid role-player, (as should be obvious from my avatar descriptions, above), and a self-proclaimed amateur author. (I haven't ever actually completed a written story, but don't tell my ego that.) I run a Minecraft server, which is in the early development stages, and will be a role-playing server. I also go to a group every Friday at the university in my town to play D&D and various other games, including one that a few friends are devving. I am trying to dev my own system, with help from the aforementioned friends, and am hoping to get people into it soon.
As for play style, I am mostly interested in story-based campaigns that allow for ample role-playing. (Shouldn't that be obvious from the above?) I like to get lost in a character and put myself in his or her shoes, even in a face-to-face, tabletop environment. If I can't get in-character while playing, I typically get distracted very easily, sometimes adversely affecting the group's gameplay. This tends to happen in bigger groups and is really only rectified by someone shouting over everyone to listen to the immediately important action. However, in some situations, I can keep focused enough to play, even in crowded and/or sloppy groups. Thankfully, I haven't really had to deal with either recently, and never have I had to deal with both at once.
My favorite kind of games are ones that have a lot of thought behind them on the DM's part, but allows for the players to surprise him or her into improvising a situation. I love watching a DM either cooly dealing out an exciting encounter to pit the party against or whipping out a premade encounter that was held to the side for just such an occasion. That kind of DM'ing makes me feel like the DM cares about the progression of the game, story-wise and gameplay-wise, as much as I do.
Enough rambling now, though; time to play!
Cheers!
