One of the other new members "Michael" is friends with one of the 7th sea creators, and had a long running game going every weekend. I had three different characters in that campaign, all members of Der Cruzenritters (fun!). I wanted to mention that talking about 7th Sea here encouraged me to take a deeper look into it again. Wound up picking up a pdf of the game mechanics and am seriously considering running a group through it for my tabletop troupe. Die Kreuzritter do appear to be thoroughly badass. That must've been extremely fun. If you have any tips about what might make a 7th Sea game more enjoyable, I'm all ears. Well, not literally, 'cause that'd be kind of gross. But I do have two ears, and they are thoroughly intent and receptive on receiving constructive input. Only... it's really eyes, since this is online... I think you get what I'm saying. Err, typing. The rule mechanics can be a little weak, and everything is relative (don't even try to play it with a map). You can some up the feel of the game by the suggested question the GM is supposed to ask each player: "How do you want your character to die?" I don't remember the answer I gave for the character of mine that got killed, but I had a cool last line: I'm pointing a rifle into the powder room of a fortress, and the villain shouts "I'm not afraid to die!"; my character coldly responds "I'm already dead" and, shortly there after, pulls the trigger.

I have indeed noticed that the rules are very... fluid. Did a brief combat/adventure with a couple of friends and that helped me get a grasp of the system. Unfortunately, as ever, it's been nearly impossible to round up a reliable group of people for the day I've got available. I don't much like maps, and I like the way the setting caters strongly to drama and story elements. I'm usually tweaking things in other systems anyway, typically to keep characters alive until suitably dramatic moments to die, so this seems right up my alley. And that, sir, is a hell of a death scene. Very cinematic.

Hey. I was looking for a play-by-post board to get into, and this seems like a great place- lots of regulars with high-quality post output, good sense of community, big enough to be busy but out-of-the-way enough to be individual. The only thing it seems to lack is a game that's recruiting new players, but I'm sure that will change in acceptably short order. I play pretty much anything, from D&D to GURPS to Shadowrun to the Storyteller System- and if I haven't seen a system before, I'll gladly learn it. Hope to have plenty of good times here.

Hey. Welcome to the boards. It's always nice to see a new member around the boards. To start with, just have a look around. Often times DMs are willing to take on a new player if they have room in their games. If you see anything you like, try getting in contact with the particular DM via personal message. In the meantime, feel free to post about anything which fits the catagories here in the General Info boards. A Note, I'm running a "short" adventure and would be willing to take on another player. Have a look "Love Thy Slaver" and ontact me if you're interested.

Hmmm. Thank you kindly, but it looks like you've got plenty of players for that one already, and it's already got a bit of a jump. I'll wait for the next one.

Welcome, Ooog! (Can I call you 'Ooog?') For what it's worth, the game Shakes is running was originally going to have an additional player, so you'd not really be giving her more than she intended to have in the beginning, anyway. But if you want to sit out, that's cool--we just don't like making new players wait around here! My games are all full, unfortunately, and due to last a few more months at least. When they do end, however, I'll be starting a new one and you're welcome to hop onboard then. I know Moonhaven also just started their second story arc recently, and Harknail might be willing to take someone, but you'd have to ask him. If we can ever get New Daddy Jolith around again, his Werewolf campaign is still in its opening stages and only has 4 players. Maybe 3, if one of the guys got busy. I'm going to be really annoyed if that game drops off the map. You're also welcome to run your own 'short' if you find that appealing. I'm sure there's at least a few players around here that would be up for something fresh.

Hi everyone! I'm a DM on hiatus and taking some time to play instead of host. Harknail referred me to this site and I'm glad he did! It looks like I'll be joining "Go Find Your Dead" in the middle of a battle ... just the way I like it.

Just the way we need it! Welcome Yog (I can call you something like that, right?). I'd love to hear more about the type of games you've been dming, if you care to tell.
Anyway, hopefully you'll save us in battle from what seems now to be certain doom. You're going to be a st. Cuthbert cleric/pally or something along those lines, or are you one of the guards? Or is that still a surprise?

Sure, you can call me whatever you'd like. ;D I first hosted a game back in college, in which Harknail played a dwarf who became the king of his entire (although decimated) race. The game took place on a newly formed plane in which the gods could not directly influence. This was because the plane itself was sentient and defended itself from entities who would seek to take advantage of it. As such, the gods sent lesser beings like avatars and champions to shape and develop the new world. A half-fiend cleric by the name of Alknar sought to create a world of unending strife and war and led a dark army to accomplish this task. He commandeered this army from a cleric/blackguard of the god of death, Yogge Mothi, who instead wanted a world of darkness without life. Serving the avatar of life, Eosia, the party united the world and defeated Alknar's forces, although the loss of life was severe on both sides. Yogge Mothi, who had survived Alknar's attack through undeath, took this opportunity to assault the world itself, allowing his god into his mortal frame and becoming an avatar of death's power. Eosia was in a weakened state and the party found themselves the sole survivors of Yogge's fury, matched up against a demigod in a battle that would determine the fate of an entire plane of existence. Whether good, lawful, neutral, chaotic, or evil, the party realized that they were united as inhabitants on this world and had to fight together to preserve all they held dear. The battle was epic, with many of the players selflessly sacrificing their lives to save their world. In the end, miraculously, they were victorious and Yogge exploded in a violent burst of negative energy. The party had won, but the world was in shambles. Eosia, assured that champions, both good and evil, would always rise together to defend the world they lived on, sacrificed her being to reverse Yogge's destruction and return the world to life. She became one with the plane's sentience and peace reigned for a very long time. The end.

Hello all, I was out looking around for places to find players in my area but I found this site, and it looked like an interesting idea to get more game in for me.
So... Hi!

Hello then, hopefully a game around here will catch your attention. There's always something going on around here (when its not the holidays or school testing times).
Make yourself at home and be welcome!

Hey everyone, newbie here!
I'm Izack, known online as Tressimir (duh). I've never actually played DnD before, but I've studied the wiki and have been RPing on another message board for about two years now. I'm really looking forward to participating here, and I'm always willing to learn something new about DnD or the board in general. Oh yeah, and I'm American. Part German, Irish, Native American and trace others.

Hi there, welcome to the board.
If you poke a few of the game moderators they'll let you know what state their games are in. Things are a little quiet at the moment, though there is a Dresden game shaping up run by TheUdjat.

I'll echo that welcome. It's always nice to see a new avatar around here, though things are a bit quiet lately. I'm taking some stabs at a Dresden RPG, and you don't need the game books to join in. I hope you'll give us a shot. If D&D is more your cup to try, Harknail's got his 4th Edition game going. Sadly, that's about all that's going on for the time being.

*Blows cloud of dust off account*
Jeez, has it really be 2 years since I last posted here?
how Time flies at college.
Still, I might want to jump in on some games here. Gming all the time gets boring, after all.
(That, and my autocad class gives me plenty of time to post while stuff is rendering)

Deekin, I think you would hardly recognize the 4ed D&D game you started...
