The map has coordinates. We should use them. Please do! See my posts above and below this one for examples. I think it reads best if the locations and monsters are described in a general way, then list the exact square or monster in parenthesis. But as long as the squares and monsters are specified, I'm happy

Harknail moved forward past the others (to I5). To reach that position, Harknail suffered 3 attacks, one expected from the goblin he was moving past (Blue 4) and two from hidden goblins (red 5 at E4 and red 6 at J7. The goblin he was moving past (blue 4) hit (AC 23, 3 damage) as did the two with hand crossbows (red 5 hit AC 31 for 11 damage, red 6 hit AC 22 for 10). The now bloodied construct issued a Divine Challenge to the goblin in front of him (blue 4) and then struck with a Holy Strike (AC 16) just missing the goblin.

Bharash ... then casts a new light spell in front of them (centered on F5), causing the light on Harknail's torch to vanish. I just looked back to see when I had cast light on harknails torch as I didn't even remember doing it. I found it as a suggestion posted while I was busy and unable to post a few weeks ago. It looks like the problem was that his torches were wet so he could not light them so it was proposed I cast the light spell on one. In actuality I think it can/should have been lit by prestidigation. Use prestidigation to dry the torch to the point where it can be lit. Use prestidigation to light it. done. Sorry I didn't notice before. I had just assumed it had been lit normally not that it was using up a light spell.

When I didn't get a response, I just assumed that Bharash had done as requested so that I could move along. Looking at versatile prestidigitation spell, I don't see that it can dry things. But I was assuming that the main reason Harknail's torches didn't work was because of their extreme age. But when I checked the internet, it looks like pitch lasts a VERY long time without drying out. And of course the pitch itself is waterproof. So for now Harknail's torches are hard to light with a tinderbox, but can be easily lit by a spell that can start a bonfire without tinder. I'll add a second light area to the map.

cool. did I not incinerate number 2 to death? Yes, the mark on the map was to indicate that goblins burning corpse. The body has cooled now so it no longer shows on the map. OK, I forgot to remove him from the "visible" map that just shows what you can see (more or less). I've fixed the map now.

Oops, a lot happened between me checking. Doran will move to J5, draw and toss a suriken at the goblin in I3 (blue 3). [dice=20]+7 [dice=6]+5
Hitting AC 24 for 7 damage.[rand=823490207460202405995102257606602866268347005540609068577067745587]

Doran moves up safely (to J5), Harknail having drawn the attention of those goblins ready to attack. His suriken sinks deeply into the Goblin near Gabe (blue 3), who pulls it out an snarls in goblin <You'll have to do better than that!>

Sanem moves up behind the others (to M4). All the goblins had hard cover but that didn't stop Sanem from attacking. Selecting the goblin facing the battered construct as his query, he launched two arrows (twin strike). [dice=20]+6=12[dice=20]+6=24[dice=10] Hit AC 12 (miss) and 24 (hit) for 9 damage to blue 3, which is now bloodied[rand=2886968548409641128041571471840149946927288547158800701645668596]

The crossbow wielding goblins (red 5 and red 6) continued to attack Harknail (hit AC 11 and AC 25). One hit, but now that Harknail was aware of them (no combat advantage) they weren't able to aim so precisely and only did 5 points of damage.
There is a rumbling coming from the right hand tunnel. Harknail glances that direction and says, "They be raising portcullis, there be something moving beyond." The goblin in front of Harknail (blue 4) takes advantage of Harknail's momentary distraction and hits (AC23) for 6 hit points. Harknail is now down. The goblins cheer, the goblin near Gable (blue 3) tells the others in goblin <Don't get cocky>
The remaining goblin (blue 3) attacked Gabe hitting even with the hard cover (AC 20) for 4 damage.
OOC: Just so you don't get worried, Harknail's "momentary distraction" is just flavor text. He was at full AC. I'll do things like this whenever I can. I hope you enjoy them.

[Not sure where it is in initiative, but Gabe will use an Inspiring Word to get Harknail back on his feet.]
"Come on you lump of metal! Get up! You didn't crawl out of the ocean to get taken down by goblins!" Gabe remains in position, hoping to stave the creatures off from the allies behind him, hopefully enough time for Sanem and the others to pick a couple off.

Here's the initiative order again: 22 Sanem 20 Goblin 20 Gabe 17 Doran (added Warlord bonus) 12 Bharash 5 Harknail
The Goblins have just gone and Gabe is up next. Though I'm not much worried about exact order among players.

Surprised by the sudden appearance of a whole load more of the sly goblinoids and the speed at which they had dispatched the metal man Bharash was glad the tiefling was in their way trying to look big. He still could not get a good view of many of them though. Bharash moves 1 south to I5 and points his staff again this time at H3 hoping to burn any goblins hiding around the corner. [dice=20] +3 [dice=6] +3 hitting ref 20 against blue 3 for 7 damage.
Plus a chance to hit any other goblins lurking within 1 square of H3 for 7 damage.
OOC: no attack from Gabe? The inspiring word is only a minor action so he could attack as well. Unless he is using total defense or course... 8[rand=8537348793705392920310235655666357268171419782934675701701698068]

Bharash scorches the goblin who can't keep from crying out in pain. There are no other voices from that hallway leading Bharash to think there are no other goblins in reach of his fire.
OOC: Yes, Gabe can heal Harknail, and still move and/or attack. Blue 3 has cover from Gabe (and visa versa) but Blue 4 does not.

Hit, blue 3 is now bloodied, it looks like he's barely standing.
I'll wait a day or two for Gabe's attack before proceeding with Harknail's action and the goblins.
