Map (will be updated as the turn progresses): The ledge is 10 feet up, all kobolds on the ledge have cover (-2 to hit). The areas in column A with little white triangles are difficult terrain. The Forest is difficult terrain. A square of forest between targets provides concealment in both directions (-2 to hit and sight perception). 2 squares of Forest provide both concealment and cover (-4 to hit and sight perception) 3 squares of forest provide superior concealment and cover (-7 to hit and sight perception). The edge of the forest provides concealment vs. ranged attacks with a successful stealth roll. I'm trying something different this time. Instead of finding a map and maybe altering it, I built one from scratch using Dungeon tiles. This lets me customize the terrain the way I want, but the result looks sort of hodgepodge.
Raylynn has preempted "R" from Sart. Sart has the unique distinction that every letter of her name is used by another player. So she's now "G" for Goblin (since Gabe left). Just a reminder, Sart is not a minion anymore
Now that you can see the situation, you can finalize your plans and attempt to switch positions. I still need 2 Endurance checks for Zynthis. I also need an Inititive check for everyone Harknail | [dice=20] | +2=12 | Sart | [dice=20] | +3=22 |

Depending on how initiative rolls out and if the kobolds are not aware of us, it might be a good decision for those adjacent to Raylynn to either stay put or let her act before them. I say this because she has Magic Weapon, which if she hits with the attack will grant all adjacent to her +1 power bonus to attack rolls and +3 power bonus to damage rolls until the end of her next turn!
During the battle the opportunity to apply that buff to the majority of the party won't likely come up (only 2 characters aren't included, Sanem and Sart). Just a thought. [rand=66992558620620064457788422405363233131914130390584277979652748435]

Oh, good grief. Can Zack see all the goblins, or am I going to have to pretend there are some he doesn't? And does any of this cover block line of sight (area bursts from superior cover are my kind of "just plane mean"). Anyway, are you sure the effect of "magic weapon" is only if you hit? That seems kind of odd--I would expect it to be an "Effect", not a "Hit".[rand=052137990772443417367424188969263165018817869797669940641787260702]

It is only if I hit, because it's an at-will power! If it was en effect line that would be a bit much I think.

Initiative: Impressive! Could Thursagan start closer to the edge of the forest? With his speed he will be a bit hindered by having to step on difficult terrain for his first move. [rand=987203092314302958692626748234031828051833435893967416980303824]

I set the group far enough back that you can continue to whisper plans, but you will need to advance to launch your attacks. The trees between you current positions and the kobolds make it easy to get surprise, but they also provide significant concealment and cover for the Goblins. I'm assuming someone has quietly scouted out the Kobold positions and reported back, you might not be able to see them all, but you have a good idea where they all are.
The kobolds on the ground are each armed with a spear, the ones on the ledge are each armed with a sling (and a dagger in case you get close).
Thursagan is just close enough to reach blue 6 with a charge, most of the others will need to move closer to hit with attacks.
Superior concealment (3 trees squares not counting the one you're in) blocks line of sight, at least for this fight. It's basically shooting blind.
Let me know where you want to start and send me a stealth roll to get there. The battle will start when anyone is spotted or when everyone is in position (someone will yell charge or something like that). If you all get into position successfully, you'll get a surprise round (standard action only).

Could Sanem Climb up a tree and shoot down from up there? Is there a tree high enough that from that vantage hr could shoot the red kobolds without penalty from the ledge's cover? He will climb the highest tree available, and hopefully obtain cover from having higher ground. Since they haven't noticed us, I would like to get into position before combat starts, I will give the "Start the Attack" signal (previous signal was "Danger ahead, prepare for battle") when I am in postionClimb check: [dice=20] | +6 | 22-that'll do. |

Thursagan is just close enough to reach blue 6 with a charge, most of the others will need to move closer to hit with attacks. Then he is fine where he is, and he will shout the charge when it is his turn (only a little less noisy than a dwarf in heavy armor running in the forest)

Will Zack have line of effect to fire burst G9 from L16 (where he is now), or will he have to move up? If he can, he'll stay put.

I moved him to D14 where the largest tree with the best view is. It's not adjacent to anyone, but is on the edge of the forest so that he has a clear view of most of the kobolds, including red 2 and red 3. He wasn't noticed as he climbed the tree and he is currently hidden, but once he shoots the kobolds will be able to see him clearly. But the ones on the ground will have to climb the tree to reach him.

The Eladrin smiled and winked before carefully moving towards the edge of the treeline. Raylynn moves to the edge of the forest without alerting the kobolds. Like Sanem he is currently hidden but will be revealed once he launches an attack. Still need initiative roll from Raylynn

Zynthis remains completely still for he is noisy in his armor. Unless he can teleport using his breaching armor. But I dont think trees count as a wall.

Laira Elereth snuck ahead to G16 with a stealth of 19 from my previous post (since she doesn't think the kobolds will notice her over the noise of the rest of the party) and is waiting for Sanem shooting an arrow before she attacks. Well the rest of the party is trying not to make noise, but yes, she can get to G16 without being noticed.
And no, trees don't count as walls (except in special cases such as hollow trees).

Still need initiative roll from Raylynn I posted it right away, but I didn't label it as Initiative. It's the first reply to the thread, I got 16! Though you did have me confused for a minute

Somehow I missed that, it was obvious when I went back and looked.
Harknail moves forward a bit, moving slowly and keeping deep into the forest to mask his advance. Sart moves to the very edge of the forrest. She's very good at going unnoticed and had not problem avoiding attracting attention.
[Zynthis is the only character still in the original position that didn't say they wanted to stay there. Does Zynthis want to try sneaking forward?]

Not wanting to be the only one left behind, Zynthis attempts to sneak forward without making noise.
