Not wanting to be the only one left behind, Zynthis attempts to sneak forward without making noise. Anywhere in particular Zynthis is trying to sneak to?

Sanem was the first to reach his selected spot, moving quickly but as silently as a shadow as he scaled the back side of a large tree, then moved slowly onto a solid branch. This gave him a good view to watch the closest of the kobolds for any signs of reaction. To his trained ear the forest sounds that Zachary was creating sounded a bit off. And he could clearly hear Harknail and Zynthis moving though the forest in a clumsy imitation of stealth. Still, he had the advantage of knowing that they were there. The kobolds looked like they were coming to the end of a long shift and weren't at their most alert. Though there was a moment there when it looked like the clumsy tanks in the back were going to ruin the ambush. The closest kobold looked like he heard something, cocking an ear in their direction. But whoever it was had stopped for a moment and the listening kobold seemed reassured by Zachary's imitation forest sounds. Both Harknail and Zynthis rolled 7's. Blue 6 would have heard them, except for the +2 to stealth from Zach's sound effects. Thanks Zach! Sanem waited until he couldn't hear his armored friends moving any more, then a bit longer to give anyone else on the team who could actually move quietly to get into position. Then he gave the signal to attack. Suddenly the Forest was filled with the sounds of heavy armored men crashing through it as arrows, bolts, and magical blasts erupted from the forest. The suddenness of the unexpected attack left the kobolds dazed giving most of the group time to launch a second attack before the kobolds started to react. Congratulations, you've successfully ambushed the kobolds and get a surprise round (standard action only). I hope I didn't make Sanem sound too snarky about Harknail and Zynthis attempts to sneak, but I thought it would fight a woods wise Elf to be a little snarky in his thoughts. Besides it emphasizes how close they came to blowing the ambush.Map (will be updated as the turn progresses): Status: H = Harknail: AC 21 - Fort 15 - Ref 15 - Will 15 - Speed 5 HP 37/37 - Heal 9 - Surges 13/13 - Second Wind 1/1 - Action Points 1 Encounter: Piercing Smite 1/1 - Channel Divinity 1/1 - Warforged Resolve 1/1 Encounter: Call of Challenge 1/1 Daily: Paladin's Judgement 1/1 - Lay on Hands 2/2

Using Zynthis's 5 movement points, he charges through 2 diagonal squares of difficult terrain to H14 and one square of normal terrain to G13 to charge attack blue 6. [dice=20]+12=25 vs AC
[dice=10]+5=8 pts of damage

Raylynn loaded one of her fancy bolts and took aim at the kobold across the river, she loosed the shot. As the arrow left her weapon a faint pink cloud filled the air around her, dousing those in the area with it's magical properties, and leaving them with a faint scent like freshly blooming roses. And, if it hits, each ally adjacent to me (that's Sart and Thursagan) will get +1 attack and +3 damage for their next turn. EDIT I was staring at Blue 7 but never specified, apologies. I think I'm going to need to place Zack next to yo in the future when you use that, given that he hits multiple targets.

Well, I'm going to be using Magic Weapon about 90% of the time, so following Raylynn around like a lost puppy is a viable course of action. Until level 7 or so Magic Weapon (at-will power) is better than most every encounter power I can choose - so I have situational encounter powers that may or may not get used and Magic Weapon which definitely will be used.. a lot.

Laira Elereth curses kobold blue 6 for 1 point of damage. I nominate this for the category "Most obnoxious use of a minor action in a surprise round." Aren't you going to tell us where you would teleport if it dies?

H13 looks good.
I kind of regret not having Laira start at M13 now, as that would have allowed her to teleport across the river during the surprise round.

+5=8 pts of damage
Zynthis charges forward giving the nearest kobold a good whack with his morningstar, inadvertently ending up where Thursagan was planing on charging to. Not that it matters in this case, but how did you get +12 to hit? I come up with +10 (normal +9 and +1 for charge).

"Incoming!" Zachary Scorching Bursts G9. Zachary's fireworks might not have scorched any kobolds, but it definitely got their attention. Especially since the blast came from deep in the woods where they can just barely make out the attacker.

If not, he may try to jump over the river (would that be a move action with an Athletics check in between?) What can happen if he doesn't make it?

No, there is no enemy in charge range. Yes he can jump over the creek with an athletics check in the middle of the move. If he failed he'd get wet (fall in creek), but it's an automatic success for him with a running start (the creek is less than 8 feet wide). However, he can just reach the far side of the creek (row 11) and will be on the verge of falling backwards into the creek. I'll treat this as squeezing (-5 to hit, grants combat advantage), but as long as he moves before the kobolds (likely with a 22 init) that won't be an issue as he can move to a full square before attacking.

Raylynn's arrow hit, though it only grazed the kobold, leaving a nasty wound in it's left arm. With a kerchunk her custom repeating hand crossbow reloaded itself automatically, ready for the next shot. Thursagan and Sart felt an influx of Arcane energy aiding their aim briefly.

I took another look, Thursagan could reach G9 by jumping diagonally across the creak, which would still be an automatic success (I measured the creak along that line, it's 7 1/2 feet). He'd be squeezing which is -5 but he'd have +1 from charging and +1 from Raylynn for a net -3. I'll allow him to shift out of the partial square and stop squeezing on his next turn as a move action.

Laira Elereth curses kobold blue 6 for 1 point of damage. The kobold feels a stab of pain as the potent curse takes effect. He glance in the direction of Laira and realizes things are even worse than he thought.
