OOC: That is a long post in time, with Ka'lion starting several fires. Vadania objects to each attempt to start a fire and does her best to put it out. So I chopped up the message to add her objections."Don't worry about the barn. I set it on fire to kill the horse that would not die before the rider summoned the horse out of the place and road off. " You did what?" exclaimed Vadania. " What were you thinking?" She dashes to the barn to see if the fire has gone too far to stop. After the fire is out or Vadania gives up she'll listen to Ka'lion explain himself. The dead have no use for it any longer anyways. There are no survivors here. None. Well, I guess the small ones right. We are getting side tracked. At this point I imagine that's the whole point. Wizard lead on. The only thing we learned here is people don't matter - only the job does." said Ka'lion, "The dead can be burned as will. It's not my first choice. But the small one seems to blame me because I didn't get killed and he nearly did. Truth is we are all hurt and I'm hurt worse then he is and I prefer to keep moving. I don't like the idea of the wizards allies killing us here in our sleep but by a means. Lets give them a chance to do that." Ka'lion picks up a burning blanch or beam or what ever and throws it into the church into all of the stacked stuff through the window he broke. Vadania exclaimed in exasperation, "Would you cut that out? Why are you trying so hard to burn down the town? It's still shelter for travelers." " Look guys, I'm just being practical. We move or we don't but if we are being delayed we need to head as soon as possible to the target sites to find out if the demon is free." Ka'lion returns picks up another fire stick and throws it into where the wizard was last seen - after the others get out of the house. " Now your trying to burn down our nights lodgings?" "Spirits of the dead. You may not matter to the others. But you do matter to me. I will avenge you as soon as I have fulfilled my contract and bought enough water for the monks that where training me. Personally I think the rest of this group are being selfish and the demons already been freed. Which brings up a question wizard. How did you capture the demon the first time?" Now Vadania is simply confused. " How do you see us as selfish? And would you PLEASE stop trying to burn down everything? I really don't like fires unless they are contained."

The barn is full of smoke, the spreading fire visible from the inn. The full extent of the fire within hard to determine but with time and teamwork it might be possible to save the building by carrying buckets of water from the well. Left alone the barn will burn throughout the night but is unlikely to threaten the rest of the village. Turning from the barn she catches sight of the barbarian throwing a burning torch into the church and moving purposely towards the inn. Ignoring the elf's pleas Ka'lion waves aside what remains of the webbing within the inn with a burning torch - as good a way to check for traps as any observes an irate Nillfree. Throwing the brand into the wizards room the fire clearly illuminates an arcane mark cut into the wooden floor as the bed linen nearby catches alight. Outside Aelos completes his work, standing with Nillfree and Belomme. It occurs to the cleric that there had been more than a few unusual faces at Clearwater, he had assumed that they were simply sheltering from the storm but perhaps some fool really did seek to break the demon's seals. Belomme seemed more dismissive of the idea, though Aelos was unsure if the maester's confidence was belief or bluster. He reassures Nillfree "I was hired to check the seals, not hunt brigands", still the mage seem conscious of how easily his power had been bested here. Ka'lions partial chain shirt weighs 20lbs, has a +3 armour bonus and a -1 armour check.

"I'm burning the church, the inn and the barn. I don't think it's going to spread but if cursed magic was left behind any visitors are going to blindly walk in to it. We don't have time to search for it and the dead need some form of closure. Any loved ones can come and start over with whatever left. I'm not a fan of fires either but any hidden monsters left behind will be forced into the open or die in the fires I hope!
This is a haunted site now and I intend to return to give the dead some peace in the afterlife when I have the skills needed to do so - which means I need additional training before I can help them. Now I need some answers from the rest of you." said Ka'lion as he takes off the chain armor and throws it into the fire. He feels better without the armor on. He prefers speed to AC.
"Vadania or Aelos or Belomme , do you know of any spells that can allow us to outrun mounted riders to the demons prison or any spells that can allow us to go without sleep?" ( in the Forgotten Realms there is a second level spell that removes fatigue and exhaustion - but this is not the realms. So it is up the gm if they wish to include it for his world.)
"Now second question. I hit both the magic horse and the big raven and my weapons proved useless. Did any of you see any signs that you weapons did no damage either? If not we need an alternative way to fight them if we meet them in the future?"
"Final question: What happened to all the towns farm animals? They where not in the barn or in the church. We find them we may be able to find usable mounts."

(in the Forgotten Realms there is a second level spell that removes fatigue and exhaustion - but this is not the realms. So it is up the gm if they wish to include it for his world.) Lesser restoration is a core SRD spell, but Aelos is too low a level to cast it.Ka'lion has thus far seen no sign of the village's animals, alive or dead - likely grazing out of sight or scattered by whatever occurred here. Indeed there is no telling how many villages might be hidden nearby or unaware of what has passed - though the plume of smoke now rising from their village might draw the eye of a shepard or huntsman.

Throwing the brand into the wizards room the fire clearly illuminates an arcane mark cut into the wooden floor as the bed linen nearby catches alight. Vadania uses her create water spell to extinguish the blaze before it spreads. If Ka'lion tries lighting another torch she'll stop him from doing so. "I'm burning the church, the inn and the barn. We find them we may be able to find usable mounts." Before answering any of Ka'lion's questions, she asks one of her own, "Why are you in such a hurry to burn down any building that might have a clue to what's going on?" With a gasp she realizes, "You must be in league with the wizard! That's why you didn't help us and why you're trying to destroy any clues!" Vadania prepares to be attacked now that she has realized what Ka'lion really is and has blown his cover.

The symbol inside:

Vadania wants to be sure our wizard gets a chance to see that symbol. I could be an important clue to what's going on. Also, since the wizard had to leave in a hurry, he might have left other clues behind in his room. We need to search the room before the pyromaniac barbarian burns it down!

"Go ahead. But if that is a glyph and blows up in your face. Remember I was right as you die. Wizards don't give clues to their enemies unless they want you to find them. Wizards are supposed to be smarter then I am. It's a bad gamble. I'm likely smarter then our wizard is. From what I can see. He's scared and may not be up to the job he was hired to do." said Ka'lion, he'll head outside a prepare a few new torches. He didn't think the druid was serious in his accusation but if he is. He is not running there by proving the stupid druids argument. Ka'lion does not like the delay because if anyone from the village does come to check things out. They are likely to attack the party out of fear and making a misunderstanding even worse. Ka'lion does not want the injured party harmed even worse.

Vadania was relieved that she wasn't attacked, but she didn't believe a word that Ka'lion was saying. She followed him out, while responding, "We chased the Wizard away, he didn't have time to set traps. Why don't you go back to him and tell him we're wise to him now." When they get outside, Vadania repeats her accusation, " I think Ka'lion is an agent for the Wizard! That's why he didn't help us in the fight, and why he's trying to torch every building that could give us a clue. Keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't destroy more evidence as to what's going on here. Meanwhile there's a magic symbol that I think our Wizard might want to look at." They are likely to attack the party out of fear and making a misunderstanding even worse. Ka'lion does not want the injured party harmed even worse. A reasonable assumption considering that your character is trying to burn down the town!

this seemed to change to roll from 8 which is bad to 3 don't know why and then changed it to 1.
the correct roll is 8 diplomacy - 1 chr for 7 over all. All I did was goto Ka'lions skill list to see what my diplomacy roll mods where.
It changed the roll afterward.
I hope the wizard is smart enough not to risk it because if the glyph is fire or death - it will do at least 6 points of damage to whoever gets to close to it. But could do more then 30. I don't think anyone in the party even with full points can take it.[rand=0208134888671338565947312817443162465945319738239058150826441124082]

Ka'lion is protecting the town from themselves. If the druid is to naieve to see that then he is not a wize man. "Go ahead wizard and check the glyph out. But watch your back the druid has not offered to play with the glyph to test it for you. If the glyph does kill you we will of felled to get you safely to the demon location. I think the druid is unwise to risk your life and not her own should you die playing with magic she and the villigers sure as hell dont understand. Even if you don't trigger it someone in the village - assuming there are still servivers will. Or I'll burn it down and keep the servivers from this village safe." says with conviction Ka'lion, he is not bluffing. deplomancy check [dice=20][rand=3684294859413057655481067788787197874196099583068338149371556938]

Belomme's eyes narrow, "how do you know so much about magical glyphs?"
(OOC - keep in mind Ka'lion has no levels in spellcraft or relevant knowledge skills)

"Story's from childhood and stories at the monastery I work for. My grandmother was a wizard. There is a difference to seeing a glyph and knowing what it can do from stories and knowing how to enchant them yourself. A big one. My grandmother's home had once been burgled and the dead man had been burned alive from coming in contact with one. I saw the body. I'd like to see anyone forget a memory like that. But by all means get yourself killed playing with fire." said Ka'lion

Navarre shakes his head and walks towards the inn, leaving the others behind, "i'd be more worried about you burning the building down while I was inside than any glyph."
Looking back as he enters the inn, "and keep you hands off my mule!"
Both the mule and Ylva fidget uncomfortably as the smell of burning flesh begins to reach the group, emanating from the church.

while they are out of ear shot Nilfree will turn to his friends. before we go up there is something i have kept in for a long time and now i need to say it, and i ask you hear me out. " It has come down to this, He has no reason to have the information he does. he expects use to take his word on any of this? well i don't. His trust is in question, how then can we trust what he says? we can't. I don't wish to fight him but he has not seen reason when we told him to stop. then he tries to bully us in to thinking he has information on something that could kills us in one hit. I think it is a loud of crap. he will say anything to justify why he is a spy and how he knows things. that is what they do they lie to get close. they even talk about grandmothers to make you feel sorry for them. I feel it has come down to that I can't take him on myself but i feel i must do something other then wait til he gets us killed. i'll need the rest of you behind me on this one. the question is how much do you trust me over him? If you do pick to keep trusting him even after all of this, then i will not be going any where with him or the rest of you. even if he goes to the original destination. he has done more then a few things in question and i don't work with people i don't trust. I refuse to stand by any longer. We need to stop him and we need to do it now."

"Well wizard - how did you capture the demon the first time?" asked Ka'lion picking up his gear and preparing to leave. Ka'lion rolls a listen check to over hear what is said inside. The rest of the group didn't hire him the captain did. They turn on him he will report it. listen check [dice=20] +5 11 so I'll hear nothing that the rest of the group doesn't hear.[rand=2501386415679008662114622537046758212432521395399201220637187362]
