Bennegar stays silent, but he pulls his hood back a little, so the woman can see his face. No need for secrecy; if the woman ended up being of an unsavory persuasion, the fact that he was made of crystal would likely not be an issue. He nods and mumbles a greeting through the jagged crack he formed for a mouth. He closed it up almost instantly, making sure the woman could see that he had no need to eat, being a construct. Though he sometimes wondered what it was like, devouring flora and fauna, alike... He cleared his mind of the meaningless thought. No need to dwell on that which cannot be changed. He simply stood back and watched the countryside, so as to prevent them from being caught unawares so far from the main road. ((Perception check, out into the distance to see if any threats are nearby that are plain to see.))

Barbatos was lagging slightly behind the group bringing a pack of rations to offer in trade for something fresher rather than the little coin they had, but upon hearing the name Ustraternes he leaves the pack behind. "Ustraternes, the Dragonborn's flying citadel? We travelled there not long ago, the magic that once held it aloft still lingers and the descendants of the dragonborn still rally to it. I would be greatly interested to hear about it and what caused it to fall from the sky, if I would not be imposing on you to ask"The pack of rations was quite welcome. Besides being something different, it meant that she wouldn't go hungry for quite as long before more of her produce ripened. She answered the question, " I know not what brought down the citadel, but I knoweth who. It twas the Tieflings. Somehow they hath unraveled the magic that kept the citadel aloft. When the citadel began to fall, I abandoned me tavern and left for the ground with someone's young child in my arms. "

" thank you for the hospitality, we are most greatfull. I take it that she leads us all inside? If so : zem is carefull to wipe his shoes outside. Tracking mud in would only make more work for an old person. Even tho he had little trust in her the cat was out of the bag so making more work for someone was a jurk thing to do, if they offered help. " i love what you have done with the place. Yet our mission is urgent, as my friend said there much evil wish to get thier hands on things and we must get them before they do. Barbados the book if you would please?" Zem realizes that wiping his feet is unnecessary, since the simple cabin has a dirt floor. While plenty of room for one, it's rather crowded when the group entered. There is only one chair within, though a couple more could sit on the bed. She looks around at her humble cottage and answers, " I hath spend far too long within these wall. If here be elsewhere to go, I would go hence, to help however I might without violence."

She glances and Bennegar's face as he reveals it, but does not react of comment. Bennegar does spot a well worn gravestone at the top of a nearby hill, but he does not spot anything that looks like a threat.

She answered, "Aye. Ustraternes be big enough to have a tavern, and it twas mine to run. When the citadel began to fall, someone pressed a child into me arms and begged me to save her. Saving Ustraternes was beyond me power, but saving a child I could do."

The woman answers, "She hath never left. She be on top of nearby gnoll nowadays. I be saving her from the falling citadel, but I could not be saving her from passing time. Tis been lonely since she hath passed away."

" I do my best not to kill but only the true evil beings or when im given no other option. Killing for sake of killing only makes one become the worst part of themselves. Barbados i think its time we showed her our book. "

She answered, "I not be thinking that ye path be violent because ye loved to fight. Rather I be thinking ye path be violent because you be traveling in dangerous places where ye be forced to fight or die."
Waiting for Barbados to confirm that he's showing her the book.

Unsure of how to best bring up the topic of the book, Barbatos simply tries "I was wondering if you could help us with some research."

The woman accepts the book and immediately recognizes that the book was old and fragile. Opening it with great care she skimmed through the book. After a few minutes she closes the book and returns it to Barbatos. "I hath nae visited the places mentioned, nae do I know what he be looking for. But I can tell ye when this book be written. It be from soon after the fall of the Netherese empire, when the cities be on their own but hath not yet fallen to the darkness. This book be VERY old! I know not how this book hath survived. Very little Netherese still be recognizable." With that she stops and looks at Harknail, another remnant from the Netherese empire.

The woman asks Harknail outright, "How be thee still functioning after all these eons?"
Harknail summarizes how he was entombed soon after he was created, and how he had recently escaped when a ship crashed into what was left of the dungeon.
She comments, "Thee be lucky to keep thine sanity. Tis hard to do when alone for so long."
Turning to Stravanya she asks, "So there be a civilization on the other continent? How be ye returning once thy quest be done?"

Yes, today it is full of vibrant civilizations much like the one you and Harknail hail from. I imagine I will return by boat, as I came. But I do not yet know how long this quest will take, nor what new task my temple will send me on upon its completion. Perhaps I will be here indefinitely. That would please me, for this land is full of many strange wonders. My temple will make their will known to me when I succeed here, and I will do their bidding.

"Yes, at Moonhaven. Not far from here. Here, let me draw you a map". I draw her a map using materials from my writing case and hand it to her. "I'm so sorry you have been alone for so long, and very grateful that we can help."

"Then I be going there," says Kayah. She opens her trunk and starts donning her equipment. Starting with a very unusual looking hide armor. How she survived the fall of Ustraternes became obvious when she pulled on a set of winged boots. She put on a ring whose twisted metal bands shift colors before your eyes, then added an elegant pair of gloves and clear crystal vambraces of interlocking plates. She tied a cord around her waist, and donned a elaborately etched helm. Finally she added a normal looking backpack with a normal looking small shield, and strapped on a sword scabbard and stuffed a javelin into the top of her pack.
Although the items appear to have been stored for quite a while (except for the helmet, which appears to be much used), she seems quite comfortable with the gear, adjusting her sword to hang freely at her waist with a practiced ease. One gets that impression that although she hates violence, she is also quite good at it! Her apparent level of skill seems far beyond that of any in the group.
After preparing for travel in a dangerous area, she removes her crystal vambraces and offers them to Stravanya. "Thank ye for the telling of where civilization yet be. These be Diamond Bracers. Once per day ye can have them protect ye from a type of damage ye hath just been dealt. They are thine to do with as thy will. Use them, sell them, or give them to another.
OOC: Kayah is a high level character I made for a game that never got started. I just threw her in as a random element. The Dimond Bracers are a level 9 arm item. Using them is a minor action (daily). It gives you resit 10 against a damage type that you were dealt since the end of your last turn. This lasts till the end of the encounter. She is very grateful for an end to her solitude!

Any other comments or should I move on to the next scene? What does Stravanya do with the diamond bracers?
