Osbern leaves to prepare the vault, instructing the two to speak with a guard at the gates to the keep when they are ready.
(assuming George does not object to the sale) They find Jellico exactly where he said he'd be, the inn bustling with activity as the owners try to repair the damage while serving customers glad to be out of the tightly packed confines of the fortified central buildings. He is busy feeding raw meat to his hunting hawk when approached and states, "sit and be at ease, Isabeau doesn't bite"
He asks to see the scythe, though not to unwrap the whole thing - he seems only interested in markings on the blade and compares them to a notebook that he carries. Satisfied that it is what he wants he throws the pouch to the far side of the table to George with a heavy clanking thud that draws more than a few looks from the patrons even over the bustle, "a deal well done, and payment in full."
Jellico seems in a relatively good mood and raises his cup in mock toast, but makes no indication that he is interested in further conversation. Despite his demeanour he possesses a curiously compelling form of charisma, perhaps due to his self confidence.
-----------
If nothing more is said Ka'lion and George depart to the keep once more, their back and forth wanderings having cost them an hour of daylight already. Guards escort them to one of the smaller keep buildings, and from their down into a dusty cellar filled with shelves, chests, bags, and cloth. Osbern has already cleared a space on an old table near the entrance and is examining documentation when they enter.

" so is it ok if we look at the lower valt" Yes - you've been taken there. Just wanted to make sure you were ok trading up your scythe first as it was Ka'lions post.
In the vault you can either look for a specific type of thing (i.e. weapons, clothes, furniture) or else Osbern will point things out from his notes.

Osbern checks his books and directs a guard to a part of the room where he digs out several suits of dark grey leather and brings them over to the table. They are battered and dusty, tough but still flexible. Osbern comments, "wyvern hide, tougher than normal leather but not as strong as steel. We should have steel here too though".
The guard returns to the same spot, pushing aside a few things before pulling out several chain shirts, though one stands out glistening in the light of the torches. George and Osbern examine the armour while the guard returns to search with Osbern commenting, "clearly magical, odd it should be down here and not in the vault". George finds the armour to be lightweight and in good condition.
His attention is drawn away when the guard shouts out in surprise and pain before fishing another suit of armour out on the end of his sword. A chain hauberk, dark and spiked with tiny sparks running along the edge of the sword where it contacts the armour.
Nearby Ka'lion, who followed the guard in, looks for armour of his own. There are furs here, old and battered leather, and metal armour that does not interest him. Under one old fur cloak however sits a chest, and in the chest some kind of armour - dark, thick, tough... like a heavily solid shadow that unfurls to the side of a man. Beneath it he also finds a crossbow, two glistening daggers, and a quarrel of silvery bolts.
Osbern peers over trying to make out what the barbarian had found.

" Not a bad selection down here, why dont the gaurds buy and use more of these things? it would help defend the town better. Im not one to give out things for free, but i know the town could benefit greatly if the gaurds bought some of it. Or do they just dont have the money or trade? For i would think comanding officers would know these are down here "

Osbern replies, "the guards have little use for leather armour, even the finest is no match for a chain coat and a steel helm. But that" pointing at the glistening chain shirt, "should not be down here."
From what George has seen so far the mundane chain and leather armours seem cheap and effective, the glistening armour he'd wager to be the most protective, the spiked armour fills him with unease but is certainly functional, and he is unsure of the protective value of the shadowy armour Ka'lion holds.
Real protective value however comes with weight. Plate armour - he could affort a fine suit of it but he doubts such a thing would be down here in the old vault.

" As part of the trade that armor you just pointed out i think would be on the trade table.
I wish to maybe trade in my shild is a bit heavy as well. Would an enchanted one be down here by chance ? i know they are not nomaly used by most. i heard a few can dance by ones side yet I know its costly to do so. i only wish to know if it can be done, and if any know how to. A lighter one but of the same kind, i do know mithrill could do it."

"A shield of that type would be in the armoury or the hands of the guards, though I know of none in Burr Town that would dance as you put it. We have many smaller and more mundane shields however."

" This gives me much defensive capabilities so to equal its deffense
ill have to get one thats smaller as well as enchanted.
That just to come out even in over all protection.
However i know of gauntlet that turns into a shield i cant recall if it was you how has it for sale or not.
Ka'lion have you found anything you wanted on your list?"

The odds of finding light armour the equal of medium armour and a tower shield are slim at best, at least with 3000gp. Burr Town does have some more 'up market' stuff in the main vault but you wouldn't expect to be able to shop around there, it's more a case of gathering together a large sum of cash and items for trade and seeing what family relic Alara might be willing to part with - even then it's most likely to be fancy stuff like lightweight plate armour and the other visibly or functionally impressive wondrous items.
The shimmering chain armour looks pretty high quality to Georges eyes though. If magical that's likely his new bag of money gone right there, perhaps with a mundane shield thrown in on the side. It occurs to him that he hasn't seen any mithril in Burr Town in his time here.

"I found some things that intrest me but I want to know more about them first. The chain suit is either merthal or elven chain - both very nice - you can wear them under your clothe without them interfearing with movement if we need to swim and we will. That much I'm sure of. I found Some kind of armour - dark, thick, tough... like a heavily solid shadow that unfurls to the side of a man. Beneath it he also finds a crossbow, two glistening daggers, and a quarrel of silvery bolts. I'd like to learn more about these? I think they would look nice with the cape I was already given." said Ka'lion, "They look to me as if they where either a great theifs gear or an assions gear."

"And I think we found you a horse? Who did you sell your wagon to. If we offered double what you sold your horse for do you think they'd sell him back to you?" asks Ka'lion, "You don't need a horse to pull a wagon. Oxen are cheaper and stronger."

"Your horse was sent south with a rider as soon as the siege was broken, to seek help from Merebas. As for the cloak i'm not sure, though I recall stories of one who hunted lycans back during the reign of lord Berren Stormwalker... or was it Mordea... I fear it has been a long time since I heard such tales, but from what I remember she married one of the watchguard."
He moves closer to inspect it while nearby the guard puts down the spiked armour and is careful to avoid it as he continues to search the area. Osbern continues, "i'm not sure I could let a legacy of the old guard go for mere coin, Lady Alara would not be pleased. Perhaps for the hammer, and the rest for the amulet" he indicates the weapons in the chest.

"We can talk with Lady Alara about it then as you still have not reimbursed me for the cost of having the items appraised and identified yet. I think the hammer should cover both the chain and the strange shadow armor provided they fit. The amulet should cover the weapons here, armor for my horse the shied, the appraisal fee so I can get my hat back. If you have a backpack of holding we will give you 1,500 gold for it." said Ka'lion

Osbern comments on Ka'lions appraisals, "ha! you have high hopes. For the amulet I will agree to the barding and shield that you ask for in addition to these weapons provided they themselves are not magical, but Vassily did not value your hammer as highly as you seem to. If these were simple enchanted armours then I would have pause but reason to consider your offer, but that is not the case."
He considers, "though there may be enchanted breastplates in the main vault, armours of the old lords. Two for the hammer I could condone, or one of these and your fees repaid. As for magical backpacks, we have none."

"Vassily knows the hammer is a artifact of Palor and some of it powers can be used by anyone. When he first appraised it he challanged me to wake up it's powers. Well I awoke one of it's hidden powers. It tells visual stories in the form of dreams. I intrepid the story the hammer sent incorrectly and was nearly killed during a zombie wyvern attack.
Basically I think the hammer wants to be found by a paladin of Palor. The hammer wants a warrior of great character to use it to fight a battle I think no longer matters. I think what the hammer really needs is a new purpose but I have no idea how to give it one. That was never covered when I was trained in magic studies by my grandmother.
So the hammer is probely worth a great deal more then he apprased it for provided the person holding the hammer follows Palor and is a paladin hero of great charcter. In their hands, I don’t think there is anything the hammer couldn’t do. But I don’t follow Palor. I respect his teachings but I don’t agree with most of them.
I don’t beleive war is ever great. Sometimes they need to be fault and many warriors die in them beleiving they died on the moral highground. But I beleive in a balance in all things. Life, love, nature and purpose. If you feel the hammer is just a weapon we will pay you 2,500 in gold and gems and the amulet for the trade we talked about as it is the equevalent value and I’ll keep the hammer. At least I know how to use it and it will comunicate with me. It might end up telling me something useful. Agreed?” asked Ka’lion

"We have no cleric of Pelor here, I cannot trade on promises and wishful thinking. But you offer the amulet and gold for what precisely? The weapons and the chain shirt?"
