The arrow strikes the shaman firmly but it's armour, or perhaps a magical enchantment, protects it from the worst of the blow.

Garrot's momentum takes him through the goblins defenses and puts him down for good.

Lynette follows up with a bolt of ice that narrowly misses the shaman as rather than fleeing he leaps forward cackling an odd chant and strikes Garrot with his club. The halfling is surprised by the impact - the blow feels like he had been hid by a small tree! (10 damage - watch out for the shillelagh)

Garrot reels at the blow from the wooden stick. He is confused for a moment and decides to invoke his mask's power. He points at the shillelagh and yells "DROP IT!" (using mask's command power)


Garrot will then attack the Shaman with his spear, hoping that his friends are on the way.

Vadania was quite familiar with the shillelagh spell, that's why she carried a club, though she hasn't used the spell lately. Still with Lynette and Garrot there, she couldn't get a clear shot at the short goblin, so she moved forward as she switched back to her wooden sword, then charged. Ylva too leaped into the fray.

The shaman fumbles his staff but through concentration and force of will manages to keep hold of it. He is so focussed on resisting the spell however that he does not defend himself well from Vadania's charge and stumbles backwards under the blow, nearly falling on the stairs.

The advantage is momentary however as he recovers quickly enough to evade Ylva's attack but as he does so Lynette quickly runs around out of his reach to flank him.

Seeking to press his advantage he aims another blow at Garrot, this time going wide as he is forced to defend himself from all directions.

Garrot will seize the opportunity to strike from the flank with his spear, keeping quiet as he approaches.

Vadania and Ylva will take advantage of flanking to keep the shaman off balance.

Ylva takes the shaman's legs out from underneath him and Lynette takes the opportunity to stab him too before he can recover, but shouting out something incomprehensible to the party a wave of magic washes over him and he pulls himself to his feet seemingly unharmed. Lynette also does what she can for the party's wounds shifting the focus of her power while maintaining the icy field around their weapons (1pt healing to everyone below half health)

He is still surrounded and as the group press their attack several arrows rain down from reinforcements back up the corridor. The mundane arrows mostly either miss or bounce ineffectually of the party's armour, save for one that catches Lynette in the leg (7 damage), but a magical bolt of arrow becomes lodged in Vadania's back and continues to burn (5 damage)

Glancing back as the shaman rises Vadania can see a more ornately dressed sister emerging into the light near the fallen bodies of her companions, bringing new archers with her.

Garrot will again move forward, flanking the Goblin and trying to bring him down before reinforcements arrive.

Garrot lands a solid blow but notices that the shamans earlier wounds have healed. He can also make out a faint glow of magical energy playing around the charms and fetishes tied to the goblins belt.

(don't forget the other bonuses Garrot gets for his weapon, flanking, small size, etc)

Those healing charms would be useful if they worked for others. But for now this goblin had to go down fast so that they could deal with the archers!

Vadania and Ylva continued to flank and attack the goblin while trying to dodge arrows.

The shaman is looking particularly sorry for himself after Vadania's blow, though still strong enough to defend himself from Ylva. As he looks for a route of escape Lynette knocks his feet out from under him with a deft sword blow and Ylva quickly finishes him off.

Turning back up the corridor the group see four spear armed women, having now discarded their bows, moving close from the shadows towards them and readying their spears against a charge while the sorceress flickers and reforms as several identical copies of herself.

As Vadania moves to face this new threat she feels the magic of the arrow in her back continue to burn, but then rapidly fade away (4 damage, spell ended). Lynettes ongoing healing magic does at least mute the pain a little (1hp for everyone)

Vadania realized that the group was in no shape for another fight. Still another fight was coming for them. She used a cure lights wounds spell on the most wounded (Garrot), having used her one memorized cure light wounds already. She hoped that Lynette's enhancements would make the difference in the up coming fight. But it was going to leave them in poor shape to take on the ritual caster.

Aurgh! The spell just about fizzled!1-8

Lynette begins casting a spell though it's effects are not immediately apparent, "stay close, i'll do what I can to strengthen the enchantment".

They've downed bows and closed range, the closest 50 feet with spear at the ready and closely flanked by her allies. The caster remains some distance behind.

Somehow I have the feeling that charging someone with a readied spear could be painful...
