Though not expecting this particular form of attack the group is none the less armed and waiting for something, and quickly reacts to the attackers.
(high enough init for the party to act before the attackers can do more than rise from hiding - the group is strung out in a line and the attackers have their backs to the walls on both sides, close enough to strike at immediately. They are armoured and appear human)

OOC: Sounds like we are in melee, and spells and arrows are not going to work so well...
Vadania does not take ambush well, lashing out with her wooden longsword at the nearest opponent while calling out to Ylva, "Attack!" Attack: q|76D6bWp_1-20+6 = 20 Damage: p_1-8+2+p_1-6p_1-6 =5 + 9 fire = 14 total
Ylva tries to bite one and throw it to the ground. Attack: p_1-20+10 = 30 Damage: p_1-6p_1-6+6 = 10 Trip: p_1-20+11 =15 Confirm crit: p_1-20+10 = 27 Crit damage: p_1-6p_1-6+6 =18 additional damage (32 total)1-201-81-61-61-201-61-61-201-201-61-6

Vadanias opponent is staggered but alive, while Ylvas target is not so lucky as they are quickly pulled down before they can fully rise.
Vadania realises that despite the accuracy of her blow much of the impact was absorbed by the armour her opponent was wearing - wild swings would not be effective here
(it's a hit - just fluff as they have a decent AC for a change)

OOC: Would the Silver Flame bonuses work on a Flame Blade? It's wielded as a scimitar, but it is a spell not an actual weapon.,

Knowledge to see what these things are? Human as far as Brennen can tell, not undead, local from their appearance. Something seems off about them though, they do not respond to being wounded as Brennen would have expected.

Right. Okay. Urban Savvy: no|ykFh4p_1-20+15
And probably doing a frightful blast. p_1-20+6 (+1 vs nat armor, +1 vs evil) vs. touch for p_1-6p_1-6p_1-6p_1-6 (+2 vs evil) damage and DC 16 Will save or shaken.

(sorry for the delay, had to swap out my internet hub today) Urban savvy - BAB +2, AC 19(scale armour, shield), weapon focus(scimitar), combat reflexes
The warrior Brennen strikes with his magic seems badly wounded and steps back from the attack in fear, but then Brennen can see an evil malevolence reassert itself in the mans eyes as he steps forwards again once more unheeding of his own life.
Tink lights two of the warriors up with faerie fire as Moriana and Rorsan wade into battle - the knight and mage each felling one of their attackers - Moriana in particular showing remarkable skill and speed with a blade for a spellcaster.
The remaining 5 warriors strike back from both sides of the tunnel. Despite their advantage all but one of their attacks fail against the heavy armour and magical protection of the party - one blow does make it through Brennens wards and the warlock is suprised at the unusual strength of the man (8 damage)
At the back of the tunnel one of the men that had been illuminated by Tinks faerie fire lets out a bone chilling shout, perhaps as a warning to others nearby but it seems as much as anything to drive the rest on in their attacks.

Vadania will drop her sword and reach for her wand of Flame Blade. Activating it, she swings at one of the men opposing them, now able to ignore his armor. attack: 1tNfJEBtp_1-20+4(BAB)+1(SF enhancement)=13 vs touch AC Damage: p_1-8+1+p_1-6(fire from her SF)+p_1-6(fire from Rorsan) = 16 fire
Ylva continues to tear at the opponents Attack: p_1-20+10 = 23 damage: p_1-6p_1-6+6 = 16 Trip: p_1-20+11 =201-201-81-61-61-201-61-61-20

Vadanias strike fells the one she wounded before while Ylva jumps on another of the men. Despite sinking her teeth into his shoulder the man is able to lift the wolf and push it away atop his shield with inhuman strength - though not quite as strong as Ylva as she pushes him back once more.

OOC: This looks like some kind of possession. I thought being near Tink ended possession. Not complaining, just checking. It does and it doesn't - Tinks aura prevents new attempts at possession and temporarily suppresses mental control.
In this specific case it's actually just a hide test to ignore anyway going by the BoVD rules, which are oddly non-specific about whether to use the size modifier for the test.
------------------------------------------------------
For future reference though (I made a point of looking it up when Tink arrived a she rules a few kinds of encounters out of the game like summoners and boss encounters with no way to deal with an invisible incorporial target). The old FAQ was - “Mental control” includes all spells of the school of Enchantment that have the Charm subschool, such as animal friendship, charm person, and charm monster. It also includes some Enchantment spells of the Compulsion subschool if those spells grant the caster ongoing control over the subject; such spells include dominate person and dominate monster. Compulsions that merely dictate the subject’s action at the time the spell takes effect are not blocked. Such spells include command, hold person, geas/quest, hypnotism, insanity, Otto’s irresistible dance, random action, suggestion, and zone of truth.

OK, I figured this was something not covered by Tink's aura. Looks like we are again killing people who could be allies, such is the life of fighting demons....
By the way, I think it might be fun to once in a while run across a situation where Tink's area does end the encounter. Not that this would count as an encounter, just be some fun roleplaying and let Tink actually use that ability

The most recent version of the demonic possession rules are in FC1, pp21–26, but I'm not sure what exactly changed in the 3.5 update.
Brennen will blast again. Tink will faerie fire the other ones. Bexj4o2Mp_1-20+6 (+1 vs evil, +1 vs natural armor) vs touch for p_1-6p_1-6p_1-6p_1-6 (+2 vs evil) plus fear DC 16.1-201-61-61-61-6

Brennens blast brings down the wounded fighter as the combat is quickly resolving in the groups favour - common warriors are no match for hardened adventurers, but even with their early success the party know this is nothing more than a vanguard. (i'll update the rest of the combat later today)The most recent version of the demonic possession rules are in FC1, pp21–26, but I'm not sure what exactly changed in the 3.5 update. It's the same in FC1, a hide check using INT instead of DEX against the standard spell saving throw DC to evade spells like protection from evil. In this particular case though the guards have also been corrupted to evil by other means and the sneaky demons are more directors than controllers, but the magic circle does stop them from jumping to the party.

With the attackers numbers quickly dwindling Rorsan turns and strikes down the one fighting with Ylva while Moriana moves to fight the last two, wounding one badly. Despite this the injured warrior throws himself into the fight long enough for his companion to step away - at the cost of his own life - and the man works a lever to drop a grate down between this corridor and the next.
Tink hesitates to give give chase given the possibility of demonic possession at work here.
(edit - to clarify he's just on the other side of the grate trying to secure it, not speeding off into the distance. A sufficiently long stabbing melee weapon such as a longsword can also strike at him)
[Tag all, just the one warrior left on the far side of the grate - there is more than enough room for arrows and energy bolts to be fired through if desired]

Assuming that a Flame Blade is also long enough...
Vadania steps up and stabs through the great with her flame blade.
attack: nseBSiKgp_1-20+4(BAB)+1(SF enhancement)=17 vs touch AC Damage: p_1-8+1+p_1-6(fire from her SF)+p_1-6(fire from Rorsan) = 11 fire 1-201-81-61-6
