Alright, our first match will feature: Krysta Johnsonvs. Callian the KindI'll post whenever I'm able, but it's a 24 hour maximum between rounds. If we can fit 5 or more rounds into a day, then we'll be finished all the faster. I want a good fight, use whatever tools you have at your disposal to prevail. Good luck. ================================== As you stand on the darkened platform you look up to see the lights of the arena glowing above you. You stand ready, your gear in hand as the gears begin turning. Slowly, ever so slowly you rise up into the arena, you see a sandy floor and bleak stone walls surrounding you. You can also see large stone pillars supporting the ceiling far above your heads. Echoing around the cavernous opening you hear the sounds of the other platforms rising into the arena with yours; on one of them stands your opponent. You immediately glance from left to right to look for any sign of your them, but you can only see the arena. {You both start the battle unawares of the other's whereabouts. If you want to try to sneak or anything of it's like, gimme your modifiers and I'll pan out the rest. Have fun!} ================================== Initiative: Krysta, Callain _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------[===]------------------| |---(C)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(K)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Really no matter what Krysta does, Callian will summon Tinsenlaed directly nw of him.
Like this:
TT -C
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention that I have divine favor prepared.

Krysta immediately backs up, to the far south wall, peering from left to right. As she does so, so spots something out of the corner of her eyes. (Assuming Spot check is good....continue to said action. Spot mod -1)
IF SHE SPOTS CALLIAN: Continuing to move west, against the wall, she grabs her trusty longbow and notches an arrow. Stopping when gets a clear view of her opponent, she holds the arrow, intended for its target with a faint whisper to the gods for guidance. (Move action to move back 10 feet, granting her a chance to spot something to the left, and continuing to move her full movement of 20 feet. Ten more fee to the left, she holds her position, not releasing the arrow yet.
"Callian! It would seem as though we are here to battle. This will be an honorable battle. I will not strike you until you have had a chance to know your enemy!"
Krysta readies her attack, releasing the arrow once Callian has had a chance to see where she is and who his opponent is.
+11 to hit, 1d8+2dmg, plus 1d6electricity damage
IF SHE DOES NOT SPOT CALLIAN:
Krysta immediately keeps her eyes focused on the area. Should Callian show himself, she will release the arrow, as intended for her target. If he does not, then she will hide in the shadows, waiting for the opportune moment.
Move aciton to get to the wall, then hide. Hide +3 Readied action to shoot her arrow if Callian shows himself.

Oh wait...are you delaying until just before my initiative, then? I wasn't implying anything...just remembering a joke my best friend used to make.

She is readying her attack once you take note of her and she calls you out.

{Sheesh, so long as the DM understands the intent, there should be no need for you two to argue or banter about it. You came here to fight for fun! Let’s do this thing.} Quickly drawing her bow Krysta pads towards the South wall looking for signs of her opponent {Spot Check, success} Callian’s gaze does turn to Krysta and he analyzes her coolly for a moment before she lets the arrow loose. {Atk Roll 12+11=23 vs 25, miss} The arrow flies true only to be deflected by Callian’s shield at the last moment, causing the arrow to skip away into the arena beyond. A near miss to be sure. Turning his mind’s eye inward Callian begins calling his mount from the plane of Celestia to aide him in this battle. (Will arrive at the beginning of Callian’s turn.) Initiative continues as normal: Krysta, Callian. _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |---TT-------------[===]------------------| |---(C)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-------K---------------/ \_____________________/

Glaring at Callian, Krysta quickly unleashes her arrows once again. This time, they fly quickly, letting loose one as she keeps him in her sights.
+11 to hit, 1d8+2dmg, plus 1d6electricity damage
She then moves to place the pillar between herself and Callian, spying him as he calls forth his faithful steed.
"I see that the honor of a Paladin is as hollow as his heart! Bringing your steed to battle. How fitting, for one that is always shouting about his honor, and resolve to call forth for aid. I guess your doubt of your abilities is showing!"
Krysta places the pillar between herself and Callian, making a charge from him impossible for this round. She will try and keep him in sights though, just to keep an eye on him and his whereabouts.
Standard Action to let loos another arrow, move action to move 20 feet, placing the pillar between himself and her, with still enough view point to keep him in her sights. Granting cover for both warriors.
She turns to the crowds, "Take a look at the Noble Callian, calling for help against a woman!"

(Japic, I'd prefer to see the results of her attack before I act.)

(Japic, I'd prefer to see the results of her attack before I act.) Um, no. I'm sorry, but no. You don't get to see how every enemy reacts in every other campaign or game, how is this any different? It is much more personal, this I realize, but this battle is the same concept as every other we fight here at KMans. Reacting to a action that you know nothing about is metagaming in the least. I know the arguments for if this were a tabletop, but it's not. We've all been playing off the tabletop on this forum for a long time, nothings changed.

I think I'd know pretty well if I were hit by an electrically charged arrow...
EDIT: If what you're saying is that I can't delay until my initiative to decide my action, then I refocus.
PS: The combat system is cyclical. In real life, are you going to make stupid decisions because of the "round system"? The reason we've been doing it this way online is that it would take forever if we waited through the initiative for people to post their actions, because we all have different schedules. There's a reason we do it @ tabletop the way we do it. But here we have two people---not exactly complicated.

Let me put it this way---am I hit? Just as if you were fighting an ogre or troll, you won't know if your hit till the next round when I post the results of ALL actions for the round. If you'd like to post two scenarios; one for the hit scenario, one for the unhit scenario, that is fine too. Imagine you were fighting a troll in the BOYD game. You don't ask Kman to tell you if the Trolls pound you into the ground before you tell him what you'd like to do to the Trolls. It's all the exact same.

Drawing her bow back again Krysta les another shaft fly (Roll 9+11=20 vs 25, miss). Although the aim is true, the arrow is again deflected by the heavy armor of the Paladin. Reluctantly Krysta withdraws from her firing position to gain cover from the pillar between you. (Move 20 ft North) As Callian continues to call forth his mount a heavy mist envelopes his immediate area. In a moments time the magnificant beast steps into view, seemingly walking through the mists, called to his masters side. No sooner did the creature arrive than the mist subsides and settles to nothingness. Tinsenlaed shakes his head and breaths deep the air of the arena; he (she?) stands ready to serve. Callian stands nearby, seemingly analyzing his surrounds. (refocus) (Edit: Almost forgot) Initiative remains the same. _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |---TT-------------[===]------------------| |---(C)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-----------K-------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Krysta takes the time to maneuver herself so that Callian can barely see her. She glares at him, while holding onto her Longbow. She calls out to him again, "Come Callian, meet me on the battlefield! Quit delaying the inevitable loss you will have by a woman!" Reaching for an arrow, she notches it but simply rests the longbow with the arrow in place in her left hand. She waits for him to come to her, hoping that the less distance between her and her target, the more sure of a shot she will have... EDIT: Just a note, that Krysta is behind the pillar, granted cover. You can not charge.... Readied action for ranged attack when he gets in her range. EDIT2: To clarify, Krysta will take two diagonal steps towards the SW pillar that is providing cover between herself and Callian. She will then take one step to the west, or left on the map. This will grant her and Callian line of sight of each other, but cover for each other as well. Charges from each opponent are not possible, as the pillar clearly obstructs the charge route.

Callian will mount Tinsenlaed while drawing his longsword, then Tinsenlaed will move 9 squares SE and 4E so that the battlefield will look like this:
- - - - - - - - C T - - - - - K - -
Callian will then attempt to disarm Krysta.
(6 BAB+3 Str+1 magic+1 mounted+4 Imp. Disarm=+15, remember Krysta's -4 penalty for not using a melee weapon)
(Where it says "C" in the minimap I made, Tinsenlaed's hind end is there under Callian, in case it matters)

Quickly moving into position Krysta calls out a challenge to the Paladin: She readies her weapons and awaits her opponent’s reaction. Finally having reached a decision Callian leaps to the back of his mount (fast mount, Ride check (including armor) 20 vs 20, success, free action) and spurs it into action. {The location you specified is not where your target is (I’m guessing that she specified after your move) so I’ll move you to attack, and if it’s not where you would have preferred, I’ll change your location (within reason).} Quickly drawing your sword you bear down on the readied Krysta. {Spot Check, success} Expecting an arrow to be loosed you note that the bow in her hand is not even drawn, instead her other hand holds a small leather bag. As you close to 10 ft {Readied action communicated via personal messenger 1/28/05} Krysta flings the leather bag in your direction. {Ranged touch 17 vs 15, success} The bag hits the charging rider and its contents burst apart covering Callian in sticky goo. {Reflex Save 25 vs 15} Callian manages to not get stuck to his mount, but is effectively entangled by the contents of the bag {tanglefoot –2 attack rolls and –4 dex, lasts 6 rounds}. Tinsenlaed finishes her movement coming adjacent Krysta. Still covered in the sticky goo Callian strikes downward at Krysta intent on disarming her. {23 vs 12, success} With a quick flick of his sword Callian sends Krysta’s bow and arrow to the sandy floor at her feet. _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------[===]------------------| |---(-)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \----------C--------------------------/ \---------TK------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Seeing her plan work, Krysta quickly moves north, to put her next to Callian. Tumble +7, as she twirls, drawing her longsword and her trusty Short Sword. She swipes at Callian with only her longsword, in a flash of weaponry that seems to come forth with ease.
Swinging her Longsword: +10 to hit, 1d8+4 dmg, +1d6 fire, 17-20/x2
Her AC is now 23, for wielding both weapons.
