"I'll stay here to guard the boats," suggested Sanem. The Elven Ranger wasn't comfortable traveling deeper underground and the goblins had already shown a willingness to strand them all here.
OOC: Just writing Sanem out of the story unless a new player comes in and wants to play him. So far I've gotten a couple of nibbles, but no definite commitments.
Edit: The new player is going to take over Sanem after all, so ignore this post.

"Oh, interesting!" Bharash exclaims excitedly "these are all arcane reagents. Someone has used some, hopefully for nothing too devious. I have been researching what can be done with such things. Hopefully these few remnants will help me unlock magical power." showing the page of writing he points out that "This is information about the Mirror I saw stolen from the lighthouse. The fact these things have been dropped shows those we follow must be panicked by us chasing them." "If we have gathered everything useful from these goblins lets press on along this path. Hopefully we can catch up with the goblin mage and the rest of the goblins we seek." Doran-"If you say so. Any chance they would drop it on purpose?"

OOC: Looks like we might be getting another player soon.
Edit: New player is confirmed, he'll start posting as soon as his membership is confirmed.

The group started making their way along the ledge in single file with Harknail in front just inside the lit area. As the rest of the group followed they saw what Harknail missed in the shadows, an narrow opening that lead into the rock away from the water.

"Hold it," Gabe says to Harknail, when he notices the narrow passage. This seems like a likely place for the goblins to have gone. "Better to check this out before moving on. Come on." With the usual formation, he steers the group down the passageway, hoping to catch some sign of the goblins' trail. They have dallied longer than Gabe prefers, looking over dropped items and such--which might have been the purpose in dropping them. Valuable time is lost.

Looking up from his newly found toys Bharash realizes everyone else is impatient to continue the chase. "Oh my apologese. I spend so much time studying I almost forgot we were in the middle of a chase." Refocused by the tieflings words he stashes the stuff away and gets back to the matter at hand. Chasing after goblins, led by his magic light.

Doran- "Well, then, let's go."

After rounding a bend the group finds itself in a wider tunnel, though the floor is still slimy. The corridor floor is uneven but seems to be heading generally upward. There are occasional puddles in low spots. The tunnel is about 10 feet wide.
OOC: Still difficult terrain and a chance to fall if you try to move though each others squares, but there is now room to move around each other. Does Gabe want to set a marching order? Anyone have any comments? Harknail doesn't, he hasn't been it this type of area before.

Is there any light except the mage light? If not, we are advertising our presence anyway, so there is no point in Doran sneaking.

The mage light is the only light visible. However the passage has enough bends that the light would not be visible from any great distance.

Anyone want to set a marching order before I advance things?

[Let's go with Harknail and Doran up front, Gabe and Bharash behind them, and Sanem taking rearguard. Doran and Sanem can flip positions if they prefer.]8

Harknail thinks about it and finds the order sound. The ranger he knew was good with both melee and ranged attacks making Sanem an excellent rear guard, able to fight regardless of the direction trouble comes from.
But after chasing after a glowing pebble that keeps going out every 5 minutes, Harknail asks, "Prithee Master Bharash, couldest thou cast thy light upon my old wet torch?" Harknail pauses and pulls a still damp torch from his backpack. The backpack looked like it was part of Harknail's back. And there was some strange shape at the bottom of the torch.
OOC: Mostly just a filler as I ready the next encounter.

OOC: Assuming that Bharash casts his light cantrip on the worthless torch...
Once the torch was glowing as bright as if it had been lit, Harknail inserted the handle end into a slot in his back a bit to the side of his head. There was a click as something inside of Harknail grabbed onto the torch handle, when he took his hand away the torch stayed behind and a little to the right of his head.
