The group makes it's way back outside and into the fog. It's now mid-morning but a chilly fog still blankets the area and limits visibility. They find themselves in a lightly wooded area, coming out of a ridge, a wall of stone that bounds the forrest. The sound of surf and the smell of salt in the air means that they are close to the sea even if they can't see it.
Sart looks around wide eyed, it's obvious that being outside is a new experience for her.
Sanem is also there, cooking a lunch of fresh rabbit meat while feeding his bird some of the meat raw.

Dungeneering (untrained) Doran will ask Sanem if he knows where the town is.[rand=333408319538990751956148699406422676078924169978374774429503901977]

Gabe looks around but really hasn't a clue about directions. He nods in greeting to Sanem and then turns to the others, "Anyone got a clue which direction we need to go? If so lead the way."

Do I have any idea how to get to town from here? Perhaps a nature skill check, or I could have Persephone fly up and indicate the direction of the town? Also, if anyone asks for me to look for tracks:
[dice=20] | +10 Perception(trained) | 29 |
Also, note that I give you guys a +1 to perception checks due to my elfishness. [rand=9479277628842235208677050711585646640531962453347039205946945495]

Laira had mentioned seeing a group of goblins leave, that's how she and those she was with at the time found the well concealed entrance. Sanem can find and follow those tracks with ease (given his perception roll). The tracks lead up and over the ridge, so the group has some climbing to do.

Sanem stands up and quenches the small camp fire. "Well, let us not tarry here, it seems as though we have much to do, I believe that I can lead us along the path that the goblins took, it looks as though they lead up the ridge yonder, come friends haste is to be adviced."
With that, he starts following the tracks; being careful not to make too much of a commotion, but making certain that the other can stay close to him if they choose to do so.
Since it is foggy, Persephone will remain on Sanem's shoulder, though on alert, so that if either of us notices something out of the norm, she will quickly fly to investigate.
Edit: This is the path that the Goblins took, not Laira and her original group (though Sanem can see those trails also).

The climb up the ridge is an easy climb. With a bit of help from those better at climbing, everyone can make it easily. Everyone but Howy, who isn't able to climb. The way is too steep to carry his stretcher.
What do you want to do? You can carry Howy over the ridge (skill challenge), leave him here, or bring him back into the caves. If you don't carry him now, you'll need to come back for him later, but you'll have more time and might have more help.

Dungeoneer roll from Thursagan: Hopefully he will be able to point the direction.[rand=9146234691143036328252044506371292091347277164464850182346999645]

As they leave the dank caves Bharash is dismayed to see the fog, the start of these troubles, still prevails. However his spirits lift when he sees Sanem casually camping away nearby. "Well met again Sanem. Did you manage to get more arrows, or have you been too busy eating?" The original sanems premise to leave was to get more arrowsBharash looks around as best he can to work out general orientation and which direction Moonhaven might be. Hopefully he can tell which way is north by how the plants are growing. By hearing the sea he knows that moonhaven is along the coast in one direction. He will also try to descern natural pathways that could be leading in the direction of moonhaven as they travel Nature check:

"Yes Bharash, and as you see my companion has finally found her way back to me. She even brought the fine gift of a rabbit, so I thought it best to eat before going back in to find you. Looks as though you found me first."
Once at the ridge, Sanem looks around for a overhanging tree or rock which could aid in lifting Howy up the rock face, using rope and grapple perhaps.

It seems likely that this ridge is a natural barrier between the forest and the plains that the town was in.

Hopefully he will be able to point the direction. Thursagan kept track of all the twists and turns underground. Heading out from the beach, they had rowed north around a rocky cliff. Thursagan is sure that while underground they went further inland and north, and that the town must be to the south, over the embankment.

Gabe looks at Howahkan's stretcher and grunts, "Dump that stretcher. I'm sorry Howahkan but we going to have to carry you up here. Someone climb up first with the end of a rope and help from above. I'll need a hand down here as well."Gabe’s Athletics check to help Howy up [rand=80726525627263658921213562586374193502056788764315852380545160516]

Sounds like skill challenge time :-)
To get Howy up the ridge and down the other side safely, you need 6 successes before 3 failures. Primary skills are Athletics (for climbing) and Perception (to find easy paths). DC 10 for both (you don't need a +10 to try). Please provide a skill roll and a text description of what your character is trying to do. If you can come up with a way to use another skill, go for it!
Getting the unoccupied stretcher up and over the ridge is easy, roll it up and use for a walking stick.
So far we have one success (Gabe), posted while I was composing this.

Sanem carefully picks his way up the ridge looking for something to attach the rope to, that won't cause poor Howahkan to smash against the rocks on the way up. He eventually ties the rope to an overhanging tree branch. Perception (Trained) Check to find a good tree: If that succeeds: "This looks sturdy enough, I pray I'm guessing the angles right, or the consequences will be dire" Athletics (Trained) Check to tie a sturdy knot and help pull him up: [rand=819607942075977127778054625261978650601790134876993967253227817]

"If Sanem can pick a good path for us, I'll take the front carrying Howy, if someone else can take the back. We can kind of push and pull him up the ridge." Howy has been pulled, lifted by rope, and pushed until he (and the rest of the group) is at the top of the ridge. And he wasn't dropped once! Even from the top of the ridge, visibility is not good. The fog can be seen drifting from the forrest, over the ridge, and down the other side filling the valley below. Still, from here they can see the top of the lighthouse sticking out of the fog about a 1/4 mile away. But first they need to gently get Howy down the other side of the ridge. [3 more successes needed from the players that haven't posted yet. Being creative with your skills if you aren't good with athletics or perception is quite acceptable :-)]

Here's an example of what I mean by being creative...Harknail isn't very perceptive, and he's even worse at climbing. But he is very good at bandaging the wounded. Using the goblin blankets they had used to make the stretcher, he attaches them to Howy's back and especially his head. Then using a robe tied around his chest, Harknail carefully lowers Howy skidding down the ridge until the makeshift "bandages" start to tear away. Harknail manages to lower Howy about a 1/3 of the way down before his padding is ripped away by a the sharp rocks. Since Harknail is trying something more difficult, he had a higher DC, he needed to roll a 15. But it was a skill he was good in, so he still had a good chance of success.[rand=4378646854311228191771467681974171030588317662477510978630185127258]

While perched atop the ridge, Sanem observes what he can of the area we are lowering Howy down, as well as seeing if he can spot anyone, or thing moving about at the top of the distant lighthouse. Are we heading in to more forest, or are we entering the plains?
