Leaving the bodies of the bears behind, the group follows the path upwards from the ground entrance. Although the cave was a natural cave, with many small openings to other sections, the main path appears to have been modified some time in the distant past. Evidence can be seen where a floor was leveled or a passage widened. As a result the group had navigating the cave. The main trail was easy to follow. Eventually the upward slope opens up into a chamber. Scattered around the chamber were man sized snakes. But these weren't normal snakes, rather they were made of metal. When they saw the group, the body near the head opened up, making them resemble an iron cobra. Their positions would have given some concealment from someone entering from the right (left edge of the map), but they were not so well concealed from those coming up from below. Map (updates as positions change) Rolling init for everyone to save time: 21 Bennegar 18 Stravanya 17 Iron Cobra 13 Harknail 12 Zem 10 Barbatos

Before anyone gets in the way, Bennegar opens up with a Burning hands attack on the two iron cobras on his side of the chamber (#2 and #3). Attack vs. reflex #2: 9q|eU_K7p_1-20+7=20 Attack vs. reflex #3: p_1-20+7=16
The further back of the two (#3) manages to slither partially out of the way and so was only slightly singed, but the closer one (#2) is caught fully by the flames (14 damage to #2, 7 to #3)1-201-20

Stravanya's blows damage the construct, but it is not yet bloodied.
#1 attempts to bite Stravanya, but misses. Attack t8iyKZ3tp_1-20+11=14
#2 moves up and attempts to bite Bennegar, but it also missed. Attack p_1-20+11=13
#3 moves up and attempts to bite Harknail, but it's fangs couldn't penetrate Harknail's steel plating. Attack p_1-20+11=13
#4 moves to a flanking postion on Stravanya and attempts to bite her. Finally the constructs luck improves and it connects. While the bite was bad enough (6 hp), but Stavanya could feel the burning in her veins that indicates that these mechanical snakes are poisonous. Attack p_1-20+11+2=22 5 ongoing poison damage at the start of each of Stravanya's turns, Save ends.
Stravanya knows that these constructs are indeed called Iron Cobras. They are a type of construct called homunculus, and function as skirmishers. They are frequently used to guard locations, though they are getting very rare (they date back to Harknail's time). Besides their poisonous bite, they can also somehow use the injected poison to affect the mind, slowing and dazing their target. They can also slither though combat (shift 3 squares).1-201-201-201-20

( Question dm how did the cobras get a flanking on her? If they shit 3 as a move none could get far enough to flank her. If they moved normal zem would maybe get aoo on one of them.
Unless it's move then as part of the move that it shift 3 sqs? )

When it's players turn you can post in any order, I just have everyone in between hold their actions. That helps avoid delays waiting for players (there are enough delays waiting for the GM).
Harknail shifts around the iron cobra (to I3), then attempts a Righteous Smite. Unfortunately his missed (just barely). Attack: VTS67rmbp_1-20+8=19 vs AC1-20

(Does Barbatos have an action point to use, and what is the green stuff at the bottom of the map?)

Yes, Barbatos does have an action point. I forgot to mention that the last encounter was a milestone.
The green stuff at the bottom of the map is supposed to be blue, and it is an underground stream.

Seeing his companion pinned between two of the constructs Barbatos moves forward seeking to disable them, at least temporarily, with a blast of debilitating magic and clear a path of retreat or assistance for the others.
Attacking in order of distance from caster (3, 2, 1) Move to J2 Colour spray Gq6e9M8pp_1-20p_1-20p_1-20+9 vs will p_1-6+6 radiant damage and dazed
Action point thunderwave p_1-20p_1-20p_1-20+12 vs fort (+14 to any of them which were dazed) p_1-6+6 thunder damage and pushed back 3 squares

OOC: actually would it be ok if Stravanya went immediately before Barbatos? I just noticed that your attack pushes #1 back but doesn't affect #4. That would mean that I couldn't reach my Oath of Enmity target without provoking an attack of opportunity if you go first.

It's fine with me, but be sure to stay out of the area of effect of Barbatos's spell.

OOC: sorry, I just realized Barbatos's Thunder-wave doesn't reach #1, only the Color Spray. Barbatos should go before me.

Seeing his companion pinned between two of the constructs Barbatos moves forward seeking to disable them, at least temporarily, with a blast of debilitating magic and clear a path of retreat or assistance for the others. Barbatos dazes #1 and #3 with his color spray, then pushes #2 and #3 away from him with a Thunderwave (missed hitting #1's con by 1). This leaves #1 bloodied. I'm assuming Barbatos would try to push one into the big pit in the center of the room, since he has a lot of flexibility in where he moves them. So the iron cobra needs a save to avoid falling in the pit. Save: AZ0Abbbzp_1-20. Iron Cobra #3 avoids falling into the pit by sinking to the ground (prone). 1-20

It's still moving, but probably not for much longer. The poison burns in her veins, but then the burning fades. Ongoing damage happens at the beginning of your turn, the saving throw to end it happens at the end of the turn. So Stravanya takes 5 points of damage from the poison, then overcomes it's effects.

OOC: sorry, I just realized Barbatos's Thunder-wave doesn't reach #1, only the Color Spray. Barbatos should go before me. Barbatos can expand his thunderwaves to close blast 4 if needed, though these things appear to have a fort save of 20 so it's not good odds for this fight.
